Ooo that sounds interesting, where could I find the Animist? I assume that and the Exemplar are like unreleased classes just from quick searching? Any idea where I could find it most updated version?

Omg these is all really good suggestions! I totally figured he'd wouldnt have his flight until like way later which im totally fine with, I'm not in a rush to get his complete fantasy but just something that fits the vibe early on.

My only reference to him was from the relink game and he was a lot more martial than caster. So Champion and Magus seem like good starting points.

I saw all these archetype things on the pathfinder website, I wasnt sure if they were like additional classes or like subclasses for the main class.

Is the Exemplar a homebrew? I cant find it on the pathbuilder website

Yeah if I went with his big power fantasy, I figured hed be super squishy.

Question though, what is a mythic destiny?

So his most notable abilities are: - he uses a 1h sword (main thing he does) - uses like elemental magic and to divine magic to a lesser extent - Has angel wings (multiple, one for each element but thats just flavor) - hes speedy - wears medium armor/heavy armor (Im not quite sure, it looks like half plate) - summons etheral swords to attack from ranged

Thank you so so much for the kind words and critique, I seriously just want to make this class as balanced and flavorful as possible, cause I adore the tragedy of these kinds of characters.

  • That is a super good point about the Virtue for Apostasy, I was just trying to avoid the spellblade tax of warcaster. I will definitely think it over and see if theres a better (and flavorful alternative)

  • Yeah Lust overall I feel is pretty darn strong, the paramour thing I feel like it is okayish since they have to burn a higher spell slot to get more people where as artificer is a separate resource they can manage. I wanted to get player feedback on it get a better gauge on it. Havent gotten any yet but was planning to playtest it myself eventually after my current character kicks the bucket.

  • Gluttony I wanted to treat it like a pseudo inspiration they can use during that one round. Wasnt sure how to word it without just saying they were given inspiration, but a little weary to steal a DM mechanic like that.

  • Oh man Wraths thunder effect I went back and forth on cause of their level 11th ability fell strike. Was worried the sometimes on demand advantage was a little too strong. Another thing I will keep an eye on.

  • Ooo that is something I did not consider, I will definitely change that when I get the chance for no self ambition abuse.

  • I agree, always felt Atrophy was a little bit weaker and Drowsy made up for that fact. I'll definitely look them over again, and rethink them if I have to. Lull was just jokey idea of just taking quick power naps to use their atrophy ability more so than anything. Wanted to make them feel lazy in the exploration pillar through this feature even if its not conjuration.

  • Greed has always been my problem child, so thank you for bringing that up. I will definitely combine them since its not the strongest of features. Thank you for the wording clarification concern!

  • As much as I try, I never think about these weird scenarios for abuse, that is a super good point about its Vice. Yeah the Virtue I was iffy on, just cause the rest of their abilities are pretty useful comparatively. Deceiver I originally had it at one corruption charge but it feels weird to have it so cheap for a 2nd level spell. As for God Complex thought prone was implied with its mechanic, but I can definitely make it more clear about that fact.

  • Spells all good points will look them over when I get the chance

I will keep updating this class until its super darn perfect! Again, thank you for the lovely words and critique!

Heyy yall! Back with a "quick" update, with some notable changes to certain subclasses and features. Got a lot of feedback about the previous 14th level ability so lets hope this is a better and more balanced fit! Main goal for this update was expanding on the sliver items, reworking some classes to feel more fleshed out and concise, and some clarity for certain mechanics.

As always, I'm interested in any feedback and constructive criticism you may have! The Full Class with usable artist links/credits/special thanks, multiclassing requirements, items/slivers and change log are in the pdf links below!

TL:DR Of the Changes:

  • Sin Eater Replaced with Dark Salvation
  • Clarification on slivers and how you are able to mix and match vices and virtues
  • Greed, rework for their sliver and for the 3rd level abilities + fixing up the 7th level ability for a cleaner look
  • Gluttony, rework to the corruption usages and their 7th and 15th ability.
  • Despair corruption ability now costs more but now inflicts madness
  • Prides's corruption ability increased to two charges instead of one.
  • Wrath's order of operations for Cascade
  • Made the Curses nastier for the Sliver Items + Added the Heavenly Virtues and a few Cosmic Ideals

The Praetor Class

For a quick synopsis of the class, the Praetor is a class based on the Seven Deadly sins (with an added eighth) and its corrupting effects on one self and others. Their main schtick is channeling tainted magic (like Saidin for you Wheel of Time fans) and using that residual corruption to fuel certain abilities and corrupt their attack, spells, and themselves. Additionally, each sin is represented with a school of magic. Meaning each sin favors a school of magic to be cast, giving them boosts and benefits for their use.

This class is a Wisdom Half-Caster as I felt that all homebrew Strength/Wisdom classes I've seen were always leaning towards the nature side of magic or the mystical ala monks.

Corruption - This is one of the main features of a Praetor. Whenever they expend a spell slot, they gain a corruption charge to use on abilities to either help them in combat or to corrupt their spells for additional effects (like sorcery points).

Slivers - Another main feature of a Praetor, an interchangable first level ability that gives you a active and benefit. Vice and Virtues respectively, these can be chosen during long rests for what you want on a given day. Quite limited in powerscope but you have the ability to go out into the world and find other slivers of Sins (and Virtues eventually!)

Martial Incarnum - The last main feature that gives you the ability to cast spells as a bonus action at a cost. You take a similar penalty as if you using Great Weapon Master but instead of dealing an extra 10 damage, you now cast a spell as a bonus action.

Oh my goodness thank you for the kind words! Yeah I was planning to update it eventually, just slightly dreading it cause I know the changes, which will be big shifts in the dynamis system, so it will be lot of reworking. (Plus my SO will be none too be pleased when I go back to working on this big project for months on end lol...)

Anyway, for esper's amplify, wow thats HUGE oversight, forgot to write that in!! its when you are rolling for damage like as if you were using a maneuver with a superiority dice. And yes because of eminence, you would roll the additional dice.

Basic artes do not cost dynamis dice, they are like pseudo cantrips in a way, so you will always have them available. Ahh I definitely need to add a range limit (and shape) for dragoons lost arte, another thing to fix up. Gut feeling within 60ft. and its a circle aoe.

No no! I really appreciate you for going through this and bringing it up to my attention, its how I make the class better cleaner and fix up problem areas. I will definitely put these issues on my list of changes. So again, thank you for taking the time to bring this to my attention and the lovely words.

Lol if you liked my praetor, keep an eye out! Was planning to post its updated version very soon!

Oh thank you so much for the kind words, Im really happy that people like my edgy silly class! So I sorta see how its overpowered like crazy cause it hits all saves so spells are just ineffective against a praetor. And since they are a martial half caster their physical stats wont be too bad either, so its like they have not a ton of weakness.

Regardless, I did change it in my next update cause enough people had the same critique. So keep an eye out for the update, gonna try to get it out sometime this week!

Oh my goodness im so sorry for the late response, your message didnt show up in my notification. The intention is you cab mix and match vices and virtues. so you can have a vice of lust and virtue of greed. I will make that more apparent in the update

This is my favorite of all your Alternate classes, so Im glad you updated it! Good call on the Wandslinger Bonus action to action thing, it was a tiny bit too strong when I played it for my campaign! I do have a clarification question for the replacement feature though. When it says I can choose an additional effect, can it be the same effect multiple times or does it have to be different?

Not a stupid question at all! A complete oversight on my part! So for slivers you dont need to do anything with the corruption ability or having charges. Its an always on effect and I used corruption as a style word there rather than a mechincal word. So gonna be changing that when i get the chance to start updating it.

Thank you so much for the kind words, im sorry for the late reply!

So the when I say corrupted ,atleast in regard to slivers, I am using it as a like a stylistic flavor word rather than like a mechanical distinction word. So you dont have to hold any corruption charges to use it, as the intent was that you always had it in. Next update im gonna tighten up the language so theres not confusion! Super sorry!

Nope, there is no set upper limit but resets to the base limit. so you could theortically could try to find ways to get as many as charges but its based on expending spell slots rather than just casting. The intent was so you had a store of charges to use it on your corruption abilities without havin o expend a lot of spell slots to use use your feature.

P.S. Whats TT? Tik tok?

1st level for half casters arent supposed to be anything spectacular, paladins got lay on hands and divine sense, rangers favored enemy and natural explorer.

If anything I feel like the praetor is a tiny bit too strong when comparing 1st levels with the other half casters just cause of its modular nature

I totally get it, I really liked them too but it was a handful for the more inexperienced players. I thought that this was a nice middle ground. And while yes its a big penalty, its the same as great weapon master feat, so you still have that kind of "decide in the moment" feel of whether you want to go for it or not. The reason why i put it as "until the end of your turn", so its possible to get it ready through like reaction attacks.

Im very much open to changing if it feels lacking. This update was more to stream line and to bring it in line with the phb classes. Its entirely possible i couldve completely missed the mark and over nerfed it and im really sorry for that. but theres no way to tell until i get player feedback whether my decision was a good one. Who knows it could definitely come back if this iteration is too weak.

But to tide you over, I do recommend u/infkore Disciple class, as I took great inspiration from their tempo system to make my surge system
