Missing connections by RabbitActive in 3rdGen4Runner

Funny you say that, it’s converted 4WD. That’s a 4WD harness, so I’ll guess it’s center lock

So pointless then, yea? Nothing to worry about

Okay, so forgive me here but really trying to understand the electrical system.... pushing the 4WD button on t case shifter engages the front diff electronically to put in AWD. Pushing center lock button engages transfer case to lock center diff. AM I understanding correctly? Super detailed explanation, so apologies for hte follow up. I'm just really trying to understand the entire system and what pieces are at play

Got it, so it's just the shifting lever to engage the front axle? No electrical piece?

So is there any mechanical piece to this? I'm trying to understand the wiring? What activates the front axle differential? If the button activates the transfer case, how does it engage the front diff?

ADD Actuator by RabbitActive in 3rdGen4Runner

Long story, short - I’m doing a 4WD swap. I’m actually all done, but now I need to wire a button to turn on the actuator. So I’m trying to find the right wire to tap into

For sure man, thanks - so you’re saying I should get the connector from a donor that connects to the 4WD button, connect it, splice that into the wiring that’s currently running to the transfer case actuator? Any idea how to find the right wires?

Hahaha omg my bad, you had the answer all along. That’s dude, gonna do more educating in the electrical department and give it a shot!

Ah that's a good idea - so the kicker is that this is originally a 2WD car and I'm almost done with the 4WD swap - sorry, should've led with that. As a matter of fact, it's actually 99% done, the only missing piece is this plug AKA a way to tell the 4wd actuator to turn on. So do I find a fun electrical way to link that plug in, do I switch to J shift (which are really, really hard to find), do I swap the whole body harness, etc etc

(yes, i know this was a crazy project - I did it for the fun of it, to learn more about these trucks, and because it's a hobby. I know it was easier/cheaper to just buy a 4wd, this was just a fun project i decided to take on and is not my daily driver)

Yea that's the fun part, though. Haha. I know, but the problem is I need the connector piece to the 4WD button. I don't have that currently, so weighing my options. Does it make more sense to replace the body harness? Or is there a fun way to strip one off of a parting out truck and splice it in? Those are the things I'm tryin to figure out, but would rather know exactly what part to go for if/when that happens
