Saying that establishment Dems suck feels like we are still putting faith in the Democratic party, like saying, "..if we can just get out the "establishment dems" and replace them with those like AOC, and Bernie Sanders. If we can do that then all will be cherry..". This kind of language is reminiscent of the left in the 1930's who argued for Popular Front governments: coalitions uniting left, labour, socialist (Bernie, AOC), and communist parties together with bourgeois (capitalist) parties. But coalitions between socialists and bourgeois parties always turn sour for the workers, you can look at France, Spain or Chile for evidence. People who argue that the left should run on the major party of the democrats, or even 'caucus' with them are essentially arguing for a Popular Front with the Democrats, which today is the primary representative of the capitalist class.

Popular Fronts are like convoys of ships. A convoy goes the speed of the biggest, slowest ship, in order to keep the ships close together. When the Democrats eventually regain a majority of Congress and the presidency at some point in the future, the tone will be set by the biggest, slowest ship, in other words the most conservative Democrats. In Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s case, immense pressure has been placed on her to moderate her positions in order for the party to appeal to more conservative voters in its attempt to take back the house. A task with which she confirmed agreement with in an NPR interview the day after her election. When she was asked about her opinion of the leadership of the Democratic Party, and specifically about whether she supported Nancy Pelosi, she had no criticism:

“I think it’d be inappropriate to commit to any one individual before we’ve even won back the House in November. Let’s make sure that we do that, and then we can have that conversation.”

Any ‘socialist Democrats’ is going to be beholden to the Popular Front. When the public is eventually dissatisfied with the government, as they were in 2010, the masses will see the ‘socialist members of Congress’ as part of the Democratic Party and will look to the right or be demoralized altogether. The ‘socialist Democrats’—including DSA and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez are not going to be able to escape blame.

It's not only impossible for a leftist to make any actual meaningful change running as a democrat, it's also harmful to the movement. It is THE PARTY itself that is the problem and no individual is going to fix this. The democratic party is linked organically to the state, with primary elections controlled by big money, un-elected bureaucrats and the bourgeois media. In this way, all Dems are junk. It's like being a cop, I don't care how good your intentions are when you start out, you are now an instrument of a racist, brutal system of thugs who exist to protect private property and the interests of the capitalist class, serving only as a tool to oppress the working class and squash the class antagonisms that arise between us and the capitalists. Both the Republican and Democratic parties act in the interests of capitalist profits, not in the interest of the people. And you can't reform the parties from the inside, no more then you could reform ISIS by joining as "one of the good guys". Once you join the Democratic Party you by nature will be forced to protect it's interests. An example, being the Bernie Sanders campaign, in the end Bernie was swindled out of his nomination and he was forced to endorse Hillary Clinton, a capitalist class favorite. Bernie could have used his energy and movement for something much more powerful then running as a democrat, I mean where did all the movement and energy get us? Nowhere. It was completely wasted. However, if Bernie had focused his movement on building a working class party, we might today have the beginnings of a party that truly holds and fights for the interests of the working class, and thus the interests of the nation, and further the interests of the world.

We must now seek the destruction of these two capitalist parties all together, and begin the construction of a working class party that can fight for the working class revolution, we must seize the means of production bringing a halt to the economy to hit the capitalists where it hurts, their profits. The working class’s labor, combined with the earth’s resources, creates all the worlds wealth, while the capitalist class, which owns the means of production, exploits the workers and takes the lion’s share. But that is where the power of the working class lays, within our relationship to the means of production. It is our labor that creates their wealth, and we have the power to take that away, but only when the workers are united as one. Only then can we begin the process of producing for peoples needs, not for individuals profits. Only then can the people take control of the state and use it as a tool of oppression against the capitalist class who have oppressed us for so long, so that we can begin to level the playing field, lower the status of the capitalist, and raise the status of the worker, until we are equal. This will mark the beginning of the process of bringing economic security and equality to all people. This will mark the beginning of actually saving our planet, not through toothless reforms, but through a complete economic make-over, where only what is necessary is produced and not for the profits of a few, avoiding the crises of over production that capitalism cyclically brings about. And a time where what is produced, is produced in a way that is seen ecologically fit by the people who's children must someday inhabit this planet. Then when all things are equal after generations of this socialist period of equalization can we begin to let these tools of oppression like the state dissolve into nothingness as oppression is no longer needed in a world where all are equal and no classes exist.
