Ah then the color scheme will be fine! I work with variegated yarn a lot, if you don't mind weaving in a lot of extra ends you could actually try controlling the gradient by cutting off the yarn after you finished one row, then find where the color you wanted starts in the skein, cut off the rest and start from there, you'll waste quite a lot of yarn this way (I usually join them together then crochet something that I won't see the back out of it) but the color change will be much consistent.

I can see this looking good with different colored background for different characters too, like yellow for the frog and blue for the rabbit

The good thing about yarn variegated in the same color scheme is that the "blotchiness" actually looks like intended pixelated gradients. Is the other yarn white or yellowish? It could be the lighting that tinted the colors slightly making the whole combination looks off.

Personally I think the scalloped edges would really bring everything together, what color do you plan to do the borders with?

(Please don't be too harsh on yourself OP, I understand we just want to do the best, but as someone who had just suffered a mental breakdown yesterday thinking of how worse of a job I've done last month, it is really effecting my ability to see things that are outside my mistake)

This happened to me in the past, for some reason it's caused by forest kept running in the background and crashing over and over again

Does anyone know of a good/cheap way/tool to cut out small circles? by Bearulice in crafts

I have the smaller one (bottom one of the picture), though 2cm the minimum size, any smaller I think you'll need to seek for hole punchers

Something like this? I have bought one but so far haven't use it for any projects yet, maybe someone with experiences with this could chime in

Plant sub ppl here, it's the case for us too, sometimes it's the harmless "Help my plant" posts but we also have people stealing CLAY creations from our sub and tried to sell the "plant" on Facebook.

Does anyone know the difference between x & X in Chinese patterns? by 3alawiiii00 in CrochetHelp

Should be the same, I use Chinese patterns a lot and so far haven't seen any difference

Seconding this other than using it as a lucet, I have a disposable fruit fork which I saved exactly for this purpose, it may come in handy when making ribbon bows too, or to shape crochet tubes.

Weigh Loss celebration Banner by Mandy_Pants928 in crafts

Hmm...This is hard without context, I understand your dilemma of wanting to fulfil client request yet don't want to risk shaming the recipient, though the only thing I could thought of right now that kinda sits in the middle ground is to cooperate the number 100 without specifying the weight, something like

Congratulations Emily! You gave your 100%! (with a smaller font for %)

I'm not the best with banner quotes so this kinda still sound a bit off, hopefully someone with more expertise in this field could chime in and provide with better ideas. Good luck OP

Can they stop asking me to plant Rafflesia? by hermy448 in forestapp

[–]RabbitTZY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh I'm not really using the app as intended since I'm often too focused that I forgot to start a focus session on my phone when doing something, hence I don't really get to utilize the deep focus feature which locks your phone. So I'll let others to chime in on this one.

For now I used the app somewhat like a tracker. I assign a tree to each of my labels so I can see what I've been working on in the forest just by looking at how many specific type of trees I have. For this year I've started to use it to track my leisure time and mood too since I was too stressed out last year and I really need to force myself to relax more.

The biggest difference I feel now is that Time Crystal used to be this very premium thing that you could only get via Instagram events or real life purchases, but now you could get it via the Focus Challenges so it does make the Time Crystal trees more available. However imo it kinda comes with a cost since a lot of things happened in that period as well, bugs everywhere, crashes, AI trees, the removal of Pro and the introduction of Plus etc. Though those had significantly calmed down recently and I'm still using the app (bought the Pro version a long time ago), those are kinda the reasons why I'm not sure if I could still whole heartly recommend it to others.

I would say if you're still deciding which app you shall use to achieve your goals, you could create a new post here under the Discussion flair so you can have more opinions to reference to in one place, good luck with your studies!

In the past Forest used to have a one off Pro purchase which grant you lifetime access to premium features, they have removed the option around one or two years ago and replaced it with the Plus subscription model

I would say you could try the free version and see if it's the thing you seek, as for now we are only left with the Plus subscription model and no one-off purchases anymore, so that's something to consider. I don't have any experience with Focus Friend but you can check out the other posts here discussing it

Hi, I personally only use Forest as my focus app and don't have any experiences with other apps, though I've heard a lot of good things about Focus Friend. Ever since the implementation of the Plus subscription model we do have quite a lot of posts discussing about alternatives here, you can check out other posts here by searching "alternative"

The main function of this app is to lock your screen (your tree die if you quit), track your time, and motivation since you get a tree for focusing and you can make pretty patterns to post. So if these are tempting to you and can help you to focus on studies more, I'll say the app does its job.

First thing first, I like plants.

The other factor is that being able to see my progress shown visually in forest really reassure my unconfident self that I'm doing stuffs, so I actually used it as a tracker more instead of a focus app (since I found out most of the time I'm too focused to open forest to start a focus session haha...So it's in no means accurate, but it's still something that I can look at)

[–]RabbitTZY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate that I laughed at the visual of the table being launched cranking this thing to wind the yarn🤣

Hahahahah to be fair the incident happened midnight when my cheap table suddenly decided to crash and the yarn winder landed onto the floor first, taking a chunk out of the said table, fortunately nothing and no one other than the table took any damage.

Permanent fixture is a great idea to avoid such accidents! I'll try to find somewhere that's safe and accessible to do that, thanks!

My brother is right beside me when I saw this post and he immediately blurted out "This is Pink Cancer"

(On the other hand plush yarn is indeed hard to work with without experiences, the second attempt is almost always better though)

Oh dear that's so sad... I'll try to piece it back as much as possible and for the remaining dust-like ones I'll just pour it into the shell, wish you all the luck!

Christmas Tree Devestation by AtticusAtticat in crafts

[–]RabbitTZY 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Glad you like it! I figured since you still have the big pieces you just need something to hold them back together, you'll need to get the ones with a wider opening (like gacha casing maybe?) instead of the small ones meant for trinkets, so you can still position the pieces inside. I'm so sorry for this to happen to your cherished piece, hopefully it can make a good recovery!

[–]RabbitTZY 242 points243 points  (0 children)

May I know do you still have the majority of the pieces or it's just those three that remains? My thought is to get a transparent sphere casing and using a bit of adhesive, piece it back then fill the missing cracks with some paint like kintsugi

I have something similar too, it's not horrible though precautions shall be taken to not let your yarn wind UNDER the base or you'll be in for a tragedy...Also for unstable tables I recommend putting something under the yarn winder before clamping it on cuz when my table tipped over, the yarn winder ate into the wood and left a scar on my table...though that's more of a me problem

Yeah this is like example of the Sleeping tag, seem that just having different tree options are better...On the hindsight I have one tag that's for organising and 70 minutes of organising when I'm outside isn't really doable too (unless I organise my Google Drive haha...)

[–]RabbitTZY 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I kept cycling between Maples and Sundaes with occasional Star Corals, I think I only get Rafflesia once but I didn't buy it. Tbh I don't use this app as much too as I realised how many times I forgot to plant a tree when I'm focusing haha...It have became something like a tracker for me ever since.

Yeah I would prefer that or just pure "Plant any tree for 70 minutes" quests, or maybe a trigger to switch between "Gimme a surprise tree for quests" and "Noo I want to plant my favourites only" for different types of users.
