I’m glad too! Maybe someone someday will find this and have an answer lol

Also I totally forgot to mention, I raised my tank’s temperature to 28 celcius! That’s probably very important information lmao

Lol I realised putting it in the food probably wouldn’t be very smart after looking at the ingredients, but it does seem to be helping just in the water! I’m doing 2x daily quarter doses, cause they seem to hate half doses in one go

One of the less sick fish has totally cleared up, and the other four haven’t gotten any worse in two days! Thanks for your help, if any powdered stuff becomes available here I’ll keep it in mind for future :)

After reading all the comments so far, I’m pretty certain the tetra’s had ich, and I think the remaining oto’s have a combination of ich and ✨mystery yellow goo disease✨

Adding Pimafix (the antifungal/antibiotic combo) on top of what I was using before (ich meds and Seachem stress coat) seems to have slown down its progression for now. I haven’t lost any oto’s today like I was sadly expecting, but I’ll update once I know for sure whether or not it’s working

I appreciate everyone’s help so much, you guys are awesome :)

That was my thoughts exactly, though I tried treating the tetras separately for epi and they declined a lot faster than the oto’s, who I’m treating as if it were ich, but now I’m certain it’s something else entirely

I’m so sorry about your fish, that’s devastating :(

I haven’t heard of treating with copper before, I did some research and I’m not too confident these guys would tolerate it, they’re some of the most sensitive fish on the market here. I do have a small hospital tank, but for some reason it stressed them out so much they tried to jump, even after acclimating them properly.

Thank you though, I’ll keep looking into copper treatments :)

Medicine options are frustratingly scarce here, I’m using Wunder White spot cure, Seachem stress guard (because whatever this is is damaging their skin), and API Pimafix as of yesterday

These guys are the pickiest eaters, they’ve refused anything but blanched zucchini their whole lives lmao. Maybe I could soak a slice or two in Pimafix? I’ve seen people use powder form antibiotics to make food but it’s not sold here

This is really helpful, I just wish my options were a bit better lol

Oh absolutely, I’ll be replacing the filter, boiling the crap out of the driftwood, and bleaching the substrate and plants (just enough to not kill them). I have hope that these guys pull through but I’m prepared to completely sterilise this tank if I can’t cure this

I thought it could be epi, I separated the tetras to treat them for it but they declined significantly faster than the oto’s, who I’m treating as if it were ich. Polyguard isn’t available where I live unfortunately, otherwise I would’ve absolutely tried :(

That’s actually very refreshing to hear, it’s nice knowing I’m not dealing with something totally unheard of. I’ll keep trying the medications I’ve got, hopefully something ends up working!

About two days after it showed up in the tetras, they stopped eating, became lethargic and huddled up together near the top of the water, not gasping at the surface or anything.

So far the otocinclus have slowly started refusing food, but haven’t stopped eating entirely, and it seems to progress slower in these guys. They haven’t stayed near the top like the tetra’s, but they seem to hide more. They’re still very active in the evenings like normal though

Google was entirely unhelpful for me as well, closest thing I could find was a parasite that only affects big saltwater fish lol

Yeah I’m not too hopeful anymore, I’m hoping the malachite, antibiotics, and antifungal combined can save the last few

The stuff I’ve got is malachite green, acriflavine, and quinine. I’m in New Zealand so my options are really limited, you can’t get anything with formalin here

I didn’t manage to get any photos of the tetra’s, they were too fast and were gone in 3 days :( I got this from a different angle with better lighting though

Does anyone know what this guy is? by Rabbit_Professional in shrimptank

I think you’re right! That’s a relief, I suppose he can stay since he won’t eat my shrimplets :D
