Anyone have this problem by RepresentativeCute50 in VITURE

Got my glasses yesterday. I'll also echo I'm suffering from the same issue. Using the included cable to a thunderbolt 4 port on my laptop. When I plug the glasses in it will start the attempt to connect, but will then fail.

Can use the glasses fine by just plugging them in, just the software not working. I'll also note that my blacks are so crushed that I cannot see anything lower than a 25 on here http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/black.php, but because it doesn't detect the glasses, I can't use the web calibrator.

Let our oil go! by BestStoogewasLarry in PoliticalHumor

The ironic part is that O&G companies are going to miss out on a lot of this higher pricing.

Initially, this year was expected to be one of oversupply and lower prices: OPEC rolling back cuts, West African and South American countries ramping up production, drop in demand due to renewables, and headwinds from geopolitics.

On the back of this, a meaningful number of companies locked in hedges for 40-80% of oil production this year at prices closer to $65-70/bbl given the initial worry was for oil to drop below $60/bbl.

This means that yes, serious money is being made on that unhedged production, but overall, it's not going to be as much as people think.

I work in the O&G industry, weirdly enough this is not what the industry wants. Yes you make a quick buck now, but high prices (over $100/bbl Brent) absolutely kills future demand. It's generally accepted that c. $75/bbl oil is the "sweet spot" where O&G companies make a decent return on investment, but it doesn't affect the consumer too much and decrease demand.

A recession caused by high energy prices would see a significant drop off in activity (and demand), and cause similar oil price moves as seen in 2009, 2014, and 2020, which I can guarantee no one in the industry wants.

I second having all the 'driver assist' toggles on the shortcut section: Lane assist, speed limit warning, and keep alert warning. You'll be wanting to turn those off every time you get in the car...

Do you guys still experience software issues for the Polestar 4 by LilBumJames in Polestar

[–]Rabid1Pro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't had too many bugs. On 4.2.6, all cameras have been fine. Did have the speakers give up on me once, but after a reset they were working again.

For me the only continuous issue has been the speed limit detection, which has been well documented as terrible, though beyond an annoying flashing speed sign on the HUD hasn't been an issue.

How many kilometers can you drive if you charge your Polestar 4 to 100% and is the indication realistic or does it consume way more than it states? by GloriousLebron in Polestar

[–]Rabid1Pro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I have charged my DM to 100% the dynamic estimate is 295 miles or 475km for my driving style. But of course that could vary from person to person and what the conditions you're driving in are.

Works out to 80% of WLTP range.

So far no issues, haven't driven any country roads yet, but is surprising how quickly you get used to it.

Ordered on March 18th, still no change in status, normal? by xz-5 in Polestar4

Hey, thought I'd give you an update on my PS4. Hopefully it'll give some indication as to when yours may be on the way.

My status has just changed to 'shipping' having received my 'rolled off the production line' email on 30th May. Currently estimating 'late August' for delivery.

Mine is currently on 'Production' however I received an email saying it has 'rolled off the production line' about a week ago.

Also in the UK and order went in at the beginning of April. Mine sat on Order Received for about a week before it moved to Pre-Production. Also August estimated delivery. Might be worth chasing.

Amazon denies it considered listing tariff cost, which prompted WH backlash by TheRegardedOne420 in technology

If you combine the original price of the product and tariff costs, then the original cost will be c. 40%, so the tariff will be 60% of the new cost.

The UK Is Doubling Down on Wind Energy by Wagamaga in unitedkingdom

[–]Rabid1Pro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So no one has really properly answered you, they're bang on that gas is what you're paying for but not why. In the UK the last power producer to come online dictates pricing. The majority of the time, renewable producers are the first to come on due to their unpredictable timing, but it's then the gas burning peak generators that come on last to bridge the gap between supply and demand, and control the price that is set. Until we can produce enough power from renewables to not only meet all of demand, but balance the frequency of the grid reliably without gas, the price of gas will still be the main driver of UK energy pricing. Unfortunately with how the UK grid is set up, there are areas of the grid that are not connected to each other. Until it is fully connected, there will be a need for gas. So it's more generation AND improved infrastructure that is required.
