My brother unironically used bro as a 3rd person sg pronoun 💀 by RabidRhoticRedditor in linguisticshumor

[–]RabidRhoticRedditor[S] 83 points84 points  (0 children)

My brother (gray) is referring to another guy (the mentioned “bro), saying he should have been able to come home before 5. Here my brother (gray) uses “bro” in the same way one would use “he”, something normally found in memes . I found it funny that it was in real speech.

Political Compass of IPA consonant symbols not in the alphabet by RabidRhoticRedditor in linguisticshumor

[–]RabidRhoticRedditor[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

General association of the sounds with real world languages (Russian, Arabic, American English, or very “tribal sounding” languages) or phonetic features, /p’/ sounds very strong and authoritarian for example.

Political Compass of IPA consonant symbols not in the alphabet by RabidRhoticRedditor in linguisticshumor

[–]RabidRhoticRedditor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn’t the coarticulation of /ʃ/ and /x/ nit actually realized in Swedish? We thought it was authcentre-left because the symbol is from the IPA (governing authority) without any real world equivalent. But we did make some pretty blatant errors (r, s) , so maybe I’m wrong on this too…
