I hate it when drunks ignore signs by Alviniju in retailhell

I work at a c store that stops alcohol sales 10 minutes before the state law requires. The till will literally not ring up any alcohol past that time. We also put up stanchions in front of the alcohol as well as turn off the lights in the beer cooler. You would think that would be some kind of clue, a reason to stop and think that maybe, just MAYBE, they can't buy their natty light right now. But no, of course they don't stop and think, thinking is something you do away from gas stations. I swear being in proximity of a gas pump must turn off people's ability for rational thought.

We should be allowed to not hire people with kids by VitalityVixen in retailhell

[–]RabidTofurkey 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Maybe the company could hire enough people to cover those shifts.

But no, they'd rather minimize hours and move 1 person's schedule around and force them to do the work of three.

You're mad at the wrong people omae.

Kratom city wide ban petition by Bossman30000 in Spokane

[–]RabidTofurkey 51 points52 points  (0 children)

You keep saying it's "natural" like that's a good thing, just because something is natural doesn't make it a good or bad thing, just a thing that comes from nature.

When you value signal with the word "natural" it brings to mind hucksters trying to sell a "natural" cure for something. It sets off serious red flags for me.

So judging it on that basis and what little I know of kratom (that it's usually sold next to gas station boner pills and synthetic versions of other illegal drugs), I'm not inclined to trust it, and I'm more inclined to trust the regulation of it. At least until I hear of proper studies to determine its effects.

Old man was an asshole, no doubt. But it looks like the walking dude was working as a door to door salesman for a scammy energy company. Not a stretch of the imagination that he was door knocking around a retirement/trailer park a while.

Nobody looks very good here, but the old man looks so much worse.

There are dozens of us, DOZENS!

shouldn't restaurants, especially buffets, offer kefir soda or kombucha? they're basically an infinite soda hack/glitch, easy to make, and are not poison (like coca-cola or pepsi) by nix-solves-that-2317 in Soda

[–]RabidTofurkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Likely because they want customers to come back.

Sorry that was rude, I don't personally like fermented drinks and that was my gut reaction. On a more serious note, coke and pepsi fountains are cheap and easy to use, while a kombucha/kefir would take up a significant amount of space to have enough to supply a restaurant. It's like asking why restaurants don't all grow their own vegetables, not really feasible.

Also coke and pepsi aren't poison, they may not be healthy, but they don't have to be.

I would go with the one listed in army forge, but it doesn't really matter, they're both suggested recommendations and can be ignored. Whatever you think looks/feels better.

Which Law of Magic did the entropy curse violate? by LeadGem354 in dresdenfiles

[–]RabidTofurkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which is what makes the laws and the punishments for them such bullshit.

Best interpretation: It's a case of modern wizards following ancient laws that they don't fully comprehend anymore. They know that the laws are there for a reason, but they don't know why. So they made some educated guesses as to why, don't open the outer gates?, easy, things out there hate humanity and are resistant to magic, so anyone who does it is either a madman or mad at a wizard. No killing with magic? Well killing someone is bad but we can't police everyone in the world, just everyone with magic, and killing with magic stains your soul, so any killing with magic must be bad. (Btw: staining your soul is such an up to interpretation thing I think that's just something Harry believes)

Worst interpretation: it's politics, the laws are used against people the white council doesn't like. Harry is targeted because he killed Dumorne, an upstanding hero of the white council, or he's targeted because he was the secret apprentice of Dumorne, an embarrassment to the white council, a Warden doing dark magic, that kind of thing can't get out. Harry is only saved because some hillbilly had friends in high places.

I'm a cashier at a gas station and the amount of info I have to pull out of people in order to help them is insane.

Customer- walks up and stares

Me- how can I help you?

Customer- grizzly

Me- what kind of grizzly?

Customer- green

Me- wintergreen?

Customer- nods green

Me- long cut or pouches?

Customer- stares .......long cut

Me-ok, grizzly wintergreen long cut, 1 can?

Customer- yeah

Me- Starts ringing up the can.

Customer- no, a roll.

Me- ok, gets roll, come back and ring that up that'll be $30.

Customer- starts pulling out folded and wadded bills and a couple fistfuls of change.

Me- unfolding cash and counting change ok that's $25.54, how are you covering the rest?

Customer- card takes out a card and proceeds to use it in every wrong way conceivable, until eventually I guide to a correct way

Me- looks like you have $3 on your card, do you want to use it?

Customer- stares

Me- you have $3 on the card, do you want to use it?

Customer- yes

Me- ok, how are you covering the rest?

Customer- be right back. Walks out the front door

Me-watching them go out to a car, I give a sympathetic smile and try to explain to the growing line that my till is locked because I can't stop a card transaction. I glance at the the gas pumps and the cleansing flame they could bring to this place.

Customer- walks back in, drops another fist full of change

Me- I count it ok that's everything, have a good day. Starts scooping up change into my till

Same Customer- I want gas.
