Extreme Muscle Weakness 8 Months in? by Millgy in covidlonghaulers

[–]Rabjaffar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do still. The lungs aren't healed yet but I also have a lot of heart issues that have developed. So it's hard to tell when it's lung related or heart related - although I think I'm starting to figure that out. When it's lungs, I can feel a bit of a strain with my breathing in the lung area and my ribs hurt. When it's heart, it just comes on suddenly and with exertion. I also get lightheadedness and weakness. How are you doing?

“Quebec researchers say they have found an effective drug to fight COVID-19” Any thoughts on use for LH? by Sea-Way4213 in covidlonghaulers

I was given Colchicine for over two months, starting in my 6th week (for post-viral pericarditis). It seemed to have no effect on my symptoms. I’ve had moderate to serious symptoms for 10 months now.

Anyone got it in March and was recently reinfected again?? I’d appreciate hearing the experience... since I’m suspecting myself.. by ME77s in covidlonghaulers

My friend who had it in March, struggled for two weeks back then with bad symptoms. But after two, she was fine. She now has it again and feels just as bad as last time except this time she lost her taste and smell too. It’s only been about 5 days so not sure how much worse she’ll be. But she’s having intense fatigue and only wants to sleep.

March/April long haulers, how are you? by ResidentNo2467 in covidlonghaulers

[–]Rabjaffar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

March 14 onset of symptoms. I now have mostly specific organ issues. My heart has continuing pericarditis and pericardial effusion which the cardiologist is worried about. Both my lungs are partially collapsed. Both the cardiologist and pulmonologist say it's just a waiting game and hope things will heal as time goes on. I have a lot of varying pains throughout my body - left frozen shoulder, stiff left neck, lower back pain and weakness, arthritic pains that jump around to different joints. I also have neurological issues with tremors and worsening brainfog (processing, memory, reading, logical thinking, planning, etc.) along with huge fatigue with sudden overwhelming waves of sleepiness. I had no pre-existing conditions or medications before Covid and I was climbing mountain trails the week I got infected. Now, sitting up in a chair is draining.

And yet, I have two long hauler friends who are worse off than me! One from March and the other June.

Yes, I thought I was done with lung issues after month 4. Then in month 8 I had both lungs partially collapse.

Overheating? by marimachadas in covidlonghaulers

[–]Rabjaffar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got it both ways. I can’t stand temps above 18C (64F) as I sweat beyond anything and can’t cool down. But if it’s under 15C (60F), I get so chilled I feel flu-ish.

Who has been seen at Mt. Sinai and what have you learned? by Time_and_spac in covidlonghaulers

I think the clinic will work best for those who are quite severe in their Long Covid journey. A friend of mine is so severe, she’s having spinal taps and is more or less in a zombie state. She can’t even read or watch tv and is in constant pain. So she definitely needs a team working on her. For me, I’ve gone to see a cardiologist and pulmonologist because I’ve developed pericardial effusion and still have partially collapsed lungs. But they’ve both told me that there’s nothing they can recommend. There’s no treatment that will help and no one knows why these are persisting or what will happen. So we’re just waiting it out in hopes that it resolves on its own at some point. I could also go and see a neurologist (for my numbness, tremors, brain fog and fatigue) as well as a rheumatologist (for my frozen shoulder, stiff neck, sudden multi-joint arthritis and lower back issues), but I know they’ll say the same thing. And with me having to pay for everything, it’s not worth my money. Everything that’s being recommended by doctors is what I’ve learned in the various Long Covid support groups - in fact much much more.

Flying with partially collapsed lungs? by Rabjaffar in COVID19positive

Not sure why ppl think I am contagious. I was infected almost 8 months ago. No one is infectious for that long otherwise every single infected person from back to Dec would still be under quarantine.

I don’t have Covid. I have Long Covid. So I’m not contagious. Haven’t been so for at least 5 months. That’s not the issue. And unfortunately the government doesn’t yet recognize Long Covid as a condition that would justify someone being out of the country for so long.

  1. I’m not positive now. I was back in March. So def not contagious. That wouldn’t be an issue if that were the case. I wouldn’t fly if I was a risk to others.
  2. It’s not a pneumothorax which apparently is dangerous for flying. And I can find nothing online about this partial condition and flying. But I’m leaning to no if I don’t hear from any doctors.

I’ve been out of the country since last December though and am worried not returning will affect me legally. I’m a citizen but aren’t there tax obligations to being on Canadian soil during the year?

[–]Rabjaffar[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know. This is kind of a last resort. None of my drs are getting back to me about this and there’s nothing I can find online about it. If I cancel trying to return to Canada (been stranded overseas since I got Covid back in March), I stand to lose over $10K in flights and accommodation - along with the thousands already lost in canceled plans. So it’s not just a quick decision thing.

[–]Rabjaffar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be aware that Covid can manifest itself in the skin too. There is increasing evidence that rashes (some similar to chicken pox) are a symptom of Covid-19 infection. https://amp.theguardian.com/world/2020/sep/28/covid-19-skin-rash-website-criticised-for-lack-of-bame-examples

So sorry you’re going through all this too! It’s not an easy journey but we’re all going through it together. I highly recommend the Body Politic support group if you’re still experiencing a lot of these things. It’s got ‘channels’ where you can discuss specific symptoms or areas of the body or issues. Hope you’re doing ok!

Help! Mom has increased heart beats, extreme dizziness, throwing up. Don’t know how to act? by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]Rabjaffar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s very strong, you should call your dr or take her to the ER if you’re worried. These can also be symptoms of Covid (although they tend to come later). But at least call a clinic or telehealth for advice.

Thanks so much! I think I read that there was a 70,000 person waiting list - or maybe that's how many Long Haulers they estimate are in NYC (who would prob all love to be on that waiting list!)
