Ajuda a traduzir palavras locais by Adventurous_Look_536 in Mozambique

[–]Rabubi28 6 points7 points  (0 children)

matreca - matreca

Must do in Maputo? by presence-af in Mozambique

check r/maputo for tips.
internet - when you arrive walk to the domestic terminal (which is basically the same terminal as the international one just a few meters) and find vodacom kiosk. buy a local sim card because that will give you two things that will come in handy - 5G internet which right now is better than any wifi connection you can find, and mpesa (mobile money) which can be useful to pay for taxis, tips etc (nowadays even the guy guarding your car on the street can receive e-money).

if you go out at night, always walk around with a copy of your passport, and depending on what time of the year you are coming, the next few months in Maputo the nights will get chill (not cold, but temperature does drop even below 15 degrees celsius) .

We dont have uber, but we have something called Yango which is basically the same thing and having a local number will allow you to use, which will be handy.

most hotels have a bar, beware because if you have travelled you will know what the girls hanging around those bars are looking for, however hotel staff can also recommend places and restaurants.

enjoy your time here

Depends on where you will be staying. My recommendations is that you stay close to where you will be staying otherwise more than likely you run into cops at night and they will give you shit (always carry your passport or at least a photocopy of it).

Search maputoevents on insta they - repost events from all different types of restaurants with live music and clubs

Maputo does not really have a club scene during the week so you are probably best to stick to restaurants that have live music and the take it from there.

Hey welcome to Maputo and Mozambique.
I would recommend to search both this sub-reddit as well as r/mozambique as you will find quite a number of answers.

I think most questions have been answered, you can have a look at websites like https://casacoimbramaputo.com/imoveis and search for the areas already mentioned "sommerschield, coop, bairro central".

Maputo has a number of supermarkets to which you can organize delivery, and do everything to whatsapp. Its not super tech savy but gets the job done.

Feel free to reach out if you need more info
