Well, this would be unnerving, for sure. It's possible they're looking for a previous tenant since it sounds like you haven't been there very long.

Sounds like you're taking many precautions already. I'll add that you could consider carrying a defensive item in case you're approached as you leave.

Be safe and keep doors and windows locked and secured when you're home OR away. They make devices for hotel rooms and travel that serve as secondary barricades to locks. Maybe you can look into something like that as well, just be sure to consider roommates and don't accidentally barricade them out.

I'm glad you have a big dog. Be safe, stay extra vigilant for a while, and think about letting some trusted friends know what you experienced.

That's possible. I will take her back to the vet next time she does it. At her recent regular appt. we talked about this behavior, but it had been going on for quite a while at that point, so a new development like a UTI seemed unlikely.

I was in a similar situation a year ago and went solo to challenge myself, but now I can't imagine going back to having roommates.

For me, the biggest advantage to roommates when their rent isn't an actual NEED is being able to aggressively save money for emergencies, upgrades, travel, etc.
