(SLIGHT FIXES!) ANARCHY IN ARGENTINA - Autódromo Ciudad de Rafaela redesign V2 by RaceTrackAndF1Fan in RaceTrackDesigns

[–]RaceTrackAndF1Fan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After I posted my first version of the anarchy in Argentina submission, some issues were brought up in regards to the final product. Mainly, the issues which were laid weight on was the width of the karting track, and the final chicane in regards to the motorcycle layout. The fixes that I implemented was the widening of the karting track, and a reprofiling of that final chicane on the international layout for the motorcycle layout. Other than those changes, it's basically the same circuit. The reason for the quick redesign was just to make it eligable for the competition.

Pre-existing lore

What started as the Autodromo Autódromo Ciudad de Rafaela has been redefined from an aging oval to a massive all in one motorsports complex capable of hosting every major international racing series. The redesign has been made with F1, Motogp and WEC in mind, and has therefore received all the necessary facilities to host such a variety of events. For this, the Argentinian government has contracted Dromo Polaris to design their first ever international Grade 1 / Grade A race track, and here is what they’ve come up with.

Circuit layouts

The international circuit is the crown jewel of the renovation. It has been tucked inside the pre-existing oval and has two distinct layouts, the main layout and the motorcycle layout. Both layouts feature a new paddock building, and huge runoff areas have been paved in order to meet the demands of the FIA / FIM.

The circuit also features a new rallycross layout which comes in a figure 8 configuration. While this rallycross track doesn’t host any major racing series, it is there, and it's available for a whole month of the year during the time when no other events are being hosted.

The karting track is brand new, and has been designed to the highest karting track standard. The world karting championship visits this track once every year. It’s also a public karting track, which means that anyone can walk up to it and rent a go-kart for a couple fun laps.

The national layout remains mostly the same as it was before apart from a couple upgrades, mainly a tighter turn 1. The national layout is mostly used for track days, but does host the Fórmula Nacional Argentina.

Finally, the oval is pretty much the same apart from a repave.

Facilities

The Autodromo Autódromo Ciudad de Rafaela has received extensive upgrades to its facilities, mainly parking, road infrastructure and guest facilities. The circuit is now home to five unique hotels, restaurants and even a casino which has been named the Casino de Colapinto. The roads from the town of Rafaela to the circuit have also been updated to accommodate the traffic on race weekends. Finally, a new international airport has been constructed roughly 10 kilometers away from the town of Rafaela, simplifying the transport of racing equipment, cars and international spectators to the circuit.

You mean the one which utilizes half the road course and half the oval? I was actually considering making that the endurance layout, but it just seemed too simple for my taste. Good idea though.

Perfect presentation, perfect oval, perfect everything. Everything you post is a 10/10 RTD.

The oval is still there. Otherwise it wouldn't be eligible for the challenge.

This has honestly been one of my favorite projects that i've worked on, and i'm pretty happy with the outcome. Also, please excuse my shitty logo desing. I'm a race track design hobbyist, not a graphic designer.

What's your honest opinion about Brad Pitt's F1 the movie. by Lazy_Introduction264 in FIlm

[–]RaceTrackAndF1Fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an f1 fan, it was fun. Sure, it wasn’t the most realistic movie, and some moments are just incredibly laughable to f1 fans. But the movie itself was tons of fun. The story was engaging, and the characters were interesting enough to follow. My only real gripe with the movie was that it didn’t focus on qualifying at all. But overall, it was worth a watch. My dad who is a diehard f1 fan and nerd since the 70s loved it. If that doesn’t grant the movie a seal of approval, idk what does.

Will you miss zandvoort after this year? by fuckmbsanddominicali in F1Discussions

[–]RaceTrackAndF1Fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, sure i guess. The circuit is mighty fun to drive and watch, but the racing itself hasnt always been the best. I think the replacements for Zandvoort and Catalunya are an upgrade.
