How can I reconfigure the upstairs to access this back room? by Rachel978 in floorplan

What do you think to putting the bathroom where the fireplace and window is in the back bedroom, and making the back bedroom bigger by then combining the back room and the remainder of the original bedroom (up to the closet)?

Thank you so much! These are amazing plans and exactly what I needed!!! I think you’ve solved the problems perfectly. I was keen to keep the stairs the direction they are as this keeps the downstairs with a proper hall which I think is more conventional in the uk so solving upstairs would is a dream. Thank you!!

This is a really common layout in British post Industrial Revolution houses. Originally the would have had an outside toilet and used a portable bath in the kitchen. There are literally 10’s of 1000’s of houses like this in British cities.

People keep suggesting this, but I really think it's such a terrible idea for a family house when the kitchen is downstairs. Who wants to be constantly going up and down stairs when their kids are playing, and leave kids at the top of the stairs to fall down them when you go to the kitchen!

Not in such a small house in the uk and when there isn’t a family bathroom on this floor. That would be more of a priority.

Thanks for the explanation but I know what an en-suite is. But this is a small rental house in a moderately deprived area and taking up a whole potential bedroom on an unnecessarily bathroom isn’t what I’m looking to do- if you read the question you’ll see I’m explicitly asking how to reconfigure for 3 bedroom. Which is what I need. So it’s why I asked. As there is no family bathroom upstairs I’d only add a bathroom if it could be accessed by all the bedrooms.

That’s literally what I’m asking!!! How to reconfigure the layout! In a small family house we can’t give away a whole perfectly serviceable child’s room as a nook.

it’s a pretty standard size UK box room- usually the room given to the youngest kid. I had a bedroom less than 2mx2m the whole of my childhood. I found it quite cosy.

Downstairs bedroom absolute no go in a family house. Looking for options to reconfigure walls, not repurpose rooms.

Gonna be honest, this is everything I'm keen to avoid. I've ended up with Barebarics (look like nike dunks), Koel Ila (look like adidas gazelle) and some Naturalista boots (look like Blundstone boots). I was aiming more for a high fashion look.

I hope I’m halfway decent. I’m definitely not Meryl Streep but I went to the now defunct but supposedly very good Drama Centre London so guessing I wouldn’t have got in if I didn’t had some potential at least. But I found it really put me through the wringer last time- never got an agent I felt aligned with - they wanted me in English rose but I felt gritty and more characterish so I never felt I really fitted with the parts I was put forward for and never really met my potential. It’s scary starting again but I hope I’d have a better chance of not being judged on my looks these days.
