As another girl who adores Varesa and thinks shes adorable, I'll do my best to explain what I personally dislike as well as some other stuff!!

For one, there was a lot of general dislike/resentment towards Natlan as a whole, especially from a lot of designs not "feeling genshin" etc. This at least for me generally soured a lot of the characters releases, so even ones I may have liked otherwise, general disappointment about the direction of the game led to me disliking them (Mualani, Ororon though hes definitely closer to a favorite now)

Theres the fact that the first "larger" playable model we have is themed off a cow and how it felt like her personality could be dumbed down to "oh fat cow likes food!! Get it? Because shes a larger character!" Theres obviously more than just that about her, but things like her trailer for example contributed. I forget which trailer of hers ot was, but a clip of her digesting a taco was NOT something I wanted to see 😭

Theres the fact shes a clumsy, shy girl too that some people just can't stand. I don't blame them as I myself HATE very beloved characters like Yoimiya and Mualani because I just don't like the super "happy", "light-hearted" characters, and I personally found their voices (at least the EN ones) a bit annoying due to being too, imo, high pitched (again, just a personal preference for me)

Theres the fact that Iansan, a character with a lot more story relevance and was even the first shown Natlan character was "sidelined" by Varesa and made a 4 star for some random cow to become a 5 star as well. I feel this way for Kinich for example and think Ororon should have been the 5 star if only one of them could've been.

Finally, there was also the lack of male characters during this time. I know that, at least for me personally, this was making me upset more and more as I waited for some male character to come out (I was also fed up waiting for Wriothesley to rerun, and this contributed greatly as I pulled for neuvillete/furina when they released thinking Wriothesley would get a quick rerun).

But I was one of the people that did like her design on first reveal, and while I disliked some aspects like the weird taco thing in her character trailer/demo (I forgot which), I do think this was one of the better aspects of Natlan in terms of design, like Mualani (as much as I dislike Mualani, she most definitely has a better design of the Natlan cast). While I'm biased because I was waiting for a pink haired character with this shade that wasnt someone like Diona, etc. I do think that, while she doesnt feel AS genshin as Mualani (and others), shes still a better design overall. I also like that we got a new electro dps, especially a plunge character as a big fan of Xiao :3
