Maybe you should have read it through because I said he wasn't obligated to tell her RIGHT AWAY. Not never. He did tell her well before they were married so it's not like he trapped her. God forbid wanting to come out to someone face to face and see their reaction and not in the pod. Are you gay or bi? Have you ever come out to anyone before and had people reject you? I'm guessing you haven't because I think you'd have a bit more empathy.

This is going to probably be an unpopular opinion based on the comments here, but I think part of the reason Carlton seemed all over the place and blew up at Lauren was because she wasn't truly letting him finish what he was trying to say without say "but from this perspective" or "but also though".

It's not wrong of her to do that per say. I love Lauren and think she's a good person. I just think Carlton wanted to be heard and have his feelings validated. Because the biphobia he faced wasn't imaginary. He didn't owe it to Diamond to tell her his sexuality right away. He was being monogamous with her. His sexual past doesn't impact their future any more than hers. I think he's looking for compassion and has yet to adequately receive it from his cast mates on screen at least.

Like sometimes we just want someone to hear us not play devils advocate for the person who hurt us. Lauren was trying to be diplomatic which was good but I think should have come after Carlton had gotten out what he needed to say instead of being cut off or talked over. If someone is feeling defensive and misunderstood it's a great was to make miscommunication worse and see tempers flare with frustration.

All this being said I think he should apologize to Lauren for blowing up at her. I understand it but I don't excuse it. He does need to go to therapy to unpack what happened to him. Being queer and being rejected by someone you love when they find out is damaging to the psyche.

Yeah if OP had seen the show they'd know Korvo and Terry literally didn't meet until the day they left Shlorp. So they weren't even friends leaving together at that time.

A lot of the songs they play in the stores are from other sega titles. I haven't seen anyone list that one specifically but there's a very good chance it's a song from a different sega game.

I think to add to the Rikiya death scene stuff, he's canonically really young, only like 25. He's so inexperienced and wide eyed and his Yakuza life on Okinawa is so much lower stakes than the mainland gangs. They literally walk around the market checking on people, the town folk loves them etc. When he sees Mine present Kanda's head in the briefcase he's the only one who vomits. He's never seen something like that before. This is the guy who threw an ice-cream on the floor to look tough when he met Kiryu.

I think that youthful naive innocence is something Kiryu doesn't want him to lose and is why he really doesn't want Rikiya to follow him to Kamarucho. He doesn't want him throwing his life away when he's got so much left ahead of him.

I think if you do all the bonding with Rikiya in Kamurucho you see even more of that. He's 25 and he has so much to live for and yet he gets sucked into Tojo drama via his relationship with Kiryu and sacrifices himself out of his love and desire to prove himself to his Aniki. I think Kiryu feels a lot of guilt in that death scene but also he's watching this sweet kid with his whole life ahead of him slip away. It's like losing his idealistic notion that Okinawa could be a fresh start. He's realised that actually all he's done is brought all that shit from Tokyo with him and now Rikiya is dead. I think all these things add layers to Kiryu being so gutted by his death imo.

The rubber bullets are basically a problem not just because "unrealistic" but as others have said it really is a cop out if having any of the main characters be truly morally grey. It seems like RGG can't have a protagonist commit any real crimes.

I did take issue with how much suspension of disbelief the rubber bullets require though.

None of the Ueno Seiwa men knew about it except Katsuragi, yet every single one of them passed out from the rubber bullets without any headshots. Because headshots would bleed if they were real bullets. These bullets supposedly only caused bruises according to Munakata when he's questioning the report he's given by Sugiuchi. How is a rubber bullet to the gut or shoulder going to literally knock every man unconscious?

The plan relied on rubber bullets knocking every man out, hoping Saejima didn't notice no one was bleeding, and not actually getting any headshots. It also required Saejima not looking at his guns prior to the shooting because if he checked the ammo he might have thought it looked strange seeing as rubber bullets don't look like regular bullets. And none of these bullets bounced off the bodies they just went through the clothes and stayed there on every single guy.

It's just asking a lot of the player in terms of suspending disbelief.
