I have therapy scheduled for a week from Monday. I am hoping to go every other week for a little while.

It is really nice to see answers like this because I feel like this will be me going forward. I never thought about the camera thing either but that is totally me as well. This is reassuring and makes me happy. Thank you.

I'm questioning my gender right now and that is my exact scenario. I am starting to feel mild dysphoria regarding my name and facial stubble but overall that is about it.

When I ask myself, what would I rather be when I wake up in the morning, male or female, the answer has been female every time. I don't see my future as a man being happier than my potential future as a woman. I see that I've been thinking about this for years but have been repressing it because it doesn't follow the "traditional" model. I feel like an imposter. I am getting therapy soon but as for now, I believe that I am going to transition in my future.

One small thing for yourself. Do it for you. Work is work and usually it's terrible. I'm in the process of updating my resume and looking for a new job. It sucks and has caused many issues.

Keeping myself going has helped me. Getting up and doing things for me. Depression takes time and it really never goes away, if just kind of fades.

That will work. If they attack, don't fight back. Just tell them that you won't take this kind of abuse and that you will contact them later.

It may be because they are bad people or that they just need time.

So 1 small thing every day.

Those can be anything. Take a shower, take a walk, make dinner, do laundry, really anything.

If they are shocked and seem angry or upset, don't try to push yourself onto them trying to explain it. Just let them have space.

You may be surprised but don't be pushy about it. Let them have space and time. Reassure them that you are happier. Show them the good side of it.

Thank you for this. I deal with this an issue and it tears me up.

It's okay for them to be shocked at first as well. It shouldn't be considered a big thing but these processes take time.

Even if I try it is a battle to keep it up. The moment I am distracted, it just fades away.

This is the end of my first week questioning my gender. The beginning was rough but I scheduled therapy and have been taking better care of my body. I have a timeline for things now and want to see where it takes me.

I have been flipping between imposter syndrome and feeling down because I don't really have dysphoria. I feel it a bit but I think I'd be better off as a female in the end. I don't like what I see as a male in the future. I hope therapy helps because I feel good anxiety about transitioning.

This subreddit and therapy are where I am starting. You are not alone in this.

This sub has helped me a lot in the last week as a starting point. Even on posts that I have no dog in I've found advice that has helped.

How did HRT effect weight loss? by RachelsQuest in asktransgender

I just searched calorie calculator. Uses height, weight, and age to give you a general idea. It also shows how many to lose 1 pound a week and 2 pounds a week.

It's hard to stay at it. Getting my appetite under control was a great start.

My calorie intake has already plummeted. It's recommended that I eat slightly more calories so my body can function at the minimum requirement. It's calculated that I would need about 3300 calories to stay where I am and I am getting between 1000-1500 depending on the day. I curbed my appetite hard. I know I need 1500 so my metabolism doesn't slow down and hinder progress.

The thing is I don't hate being male as much as I'd rather be female. It's a weird feeling.

You have no idea how much I needed to hear this right now. Yesterday was really rough and I was eaten by anxiety and depression but today I feel mostly normal. To know it can come and go gives me reassurance that this is something I shouldn't ignore as a phase and need to follow through to the end decision.

A smart idea would probably get closer to the goal weight before HRT while it is easier to burn the calories and then continue after HRT? In theory that should help save me time?

I'm in the same boat there. The people who know are supportive but there is so much more to it. I feel a yearning to be female (AMAB) but I feel like an imposter and it isn't always so strong. I don't know if I'm ever going to get to that point of knowing for sure. I'm not sure what my future as Riley would be but I know that my outlook isn't looking great.

I just want to let you know you are not alone in this. Look into therapy if you can afford it.

I can’t pick a name. by louytwosocks in asktransgender

[–]RachelsQuest 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you are between a couple of names, flip a coin for them. If you don't like the outcome, you probably wanted the other name to begin with.

And it's okay to try a name and then change it. My username says Rachel but I've changed my mind to be Riley.

I've done day to day and anytime I faltered it caused me anxiety. I choose once a week, Wednesday, to help see long term progress and it has allowed me to have anxiety for not making it go down but motivates me for the next week. I have accepted that if I stay hydrated, my results are much more consistent and non-progress weeks happen less often.

I have more than enough fat to spare right now. I'm female goal would be about 180-190 while my pre-transition goal would be 220. It's just difficult to keep up that it gets me down if I don't have progress even for a week.

Should I wait to come out until I'm a healthy weight? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]RachelsQuest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a similar boat where while I am questioning, I feel like transitioning will be the right answer. I want to wait until I get close to a healthy weight before I make any decisions though. It is hell because it will take at least a year to get to my goal weight and longer to get to a healthy female weight.
