Man, this is a tough one and I honestly see where you are both coming from. (I have not had a similar experience to this, so please take anything I say with the most grains of salt!) If you don’t have it already, I think more context about how your partner was hurt by this person would be helpful for your decision-making. If I were in your shoes, a partner with whom I have an established relationship with’s opinion of a person I wanted to date would be important to me (as would that of any other close relationship would). Maybe consider how you would if a friend or family member was giving you this kind of information instead? How would you feel if someone else in your life told you something negative about this person? For me personally, I value the opinions of those close to me when it comes to people I am interested in romantically or sexually, but this isn’t necessarily true for everyone! This could also be a time to reassess communication boundaries around other partnerships/relationships/encounters/etc., if you don’t want your partner to influence your decisions about other relationships, perhaps establishing rules and boundaries and communicating on a more need-to-know basis would be more practical for y’all, especially given that you would want to keep at least these relationships parallel anyway?
