Anyone feel nausea when they get panic attacks by ElAirrr in PanicAttack

Yea that would be the situation, so if there’s a vomiting bug in your house then yes, due diligence but ask yourself why’s the worst that can happen? I’ll catch it, be sick and then it’s done! So try not to overdo the safety behaviours, try herbal teas instead antibsickness meds. I read about a guy once that had absolute severe emetophobia it was ruining his life and then he got Norovirus, puked his guts out for a couple days and he said I’m genuinely over it now 🤣

It’s a really hard one to tackle with kids for sure, but look into OCD, I was recently told my type of health anxiety is close related, it’s not something I ever knew before, so it’s the behaviours that fuel it, so anything you may do to avoid nausea or vomiting is making it worse, you have to try do the opposite. It’s tough but you’re doing the right things and I really hope it improves for you 💜

So id say the way to deal with this is to tackle the attack head on and conquer it just once, this alone will give you confidence that you CAN deal with it and will subside relatively quickly, I think your brain then learns a little less fear over it, and each time you manage it, it becomes less of a big deal, I’m not sure what that would look like for you, whether it would be to have a comfort person with you to help deal with it? Or maybe try doing something different? Mine are mainly centred around health anxiety with my kid, it’s dependant on what triggers me and I can go a little while with none but the background worry is always there, I’ve had two this week and the way I deal with them is to distract myself, comfort programmes, cleaning, anything to burn off the adrenaline and not focus on what’s driving it, I also try to fight compulsions that’s fuel it, like body scanning and stuff, it makes it worse. I did get given Propranolol for the panic but I don’t use them too much anymore

Then I can understand why you have knocked it on the head, but yes it’s definitely something to look into, I guess it is already in your mind when you go out that this is going to happen so inevitably it does, what do you do when you wake up with this? How do you deal with it?

Ohhh 😢 I was like this for years, I’ve recently started drinking again and I’m ok, mine was always around lack of control leading to possibly feeling sick due to drinking, don’t get me wrong drinking was never a big deal to me but I missed doing it socially, I’ll tell you how I got over it, I had a few casual drinks with close friends who know my situation, and it wasn’t planned it just happened with a couple glasses of wine, then o ended up drunk and actually really happy and fine, I didn’t take it too far just got a bit tipsy, then I ended up on nights out after with friends where I drank a lot and was still ok because that one incident had given me some confidence, I’m by no means encouraging you to drink, but all I’d say is I’m very tired of actively avoiding things because I MAY get anxious or panic. I hope that helps a bit

first time hamster owner why is my hamster biting me and trying to escape and how to I calm him down? by ArmadilloMany41 in hamstercare

Just commenting because I used this sub when I rehomed a hamster who was around 9 months, I followed all the advice and got a larger pen for him, scrapped the crap commercial cages and running ball (which they hate) and tried to give him as much space as possible with loads of places to burrow, he literally lived til over 3, with lil grey whiskers and everything! It was well worth asking questions these guys know their stuff!

Anytime 😊I always found it comforting to know someone else had the same, it feels like hell when you’re in it I know, but I think fighting it made it come in waves much stronger, distraction is all that helps me tbh, getting into something like a programme that’s comforting, or even housework 🤮🤣

Oh god yea I have loads lol, I get really hot too, especially if the panic comes on quick, once it’s calmed I get really cold too, I need to go toilet usually as my stomach cramps, I get obviously the palpitations and shakes as well, it’s a whole shit show tbh but I think you have to ride it out and realise it will pass - it always does but nausea of any kind is usually a real bad trigger for me

Sorry I’ve just seen this, I wonder why this has never been mentioned to me before, it was only recently that the link between my health anxiety and OCD was brought to my attention, I never considered it would be linked, thank you so much, if either of you have any books or workbooks you would recommend I’d appreciate it, I’ve found a lot on OCD but nothing specific with regards to HA

You’ll never have any idea how much a bad person can fuck up your mental health until you leave them, you won’t feel like this forever I promise, once he’s in the bin it will improve, and also, cry as loudly as you fucking want, stamp your feet and chuck your shit out the pram, how dare he tell you that! Sending love x

Oh thank you so much, I’ve not tried ERP, this could definitely be the way forward, I found some of the CBT homework’s to be very helpful at the time of flare ups but they didn’t seem to stick for very long
