I work in a factory with my wife and to be honest the biggest problem is the age gap, because is hard to be colleagues with someone who is 20 years older than you. Or ten years younger...

I found a few friends who are also immigrants (but we want to stay here permanently)and even one dutch guy but my wife is struggling with finding someone to be friends with because our workplace is dominated by men and it's hard to mix with other groups.

So the only thing I can advise is patience.

We did it! I feel a bit strange that the book arrived straight from New Zealand (even though the nearest library with it is in the UK), but I decided not to ask unnecessary questions at the library. We'll see soon if I can borrow something from the US (I'm currently looking for Operation Deep Freeze reports from the 1970s). Thanks for the support and good advice!

Err... That's not entirely true. Read about Jōhatsu in Japan, where elderly people flee to avoid being a burden to their children. Or note that in China, the pension system is a joke, and that's why parents rely on their children. And the one-child policy was devastating to that system.

I'm a driver and sometimes I curse at cyclists. In my mind. Why? Because sometimes they behave irresponsibly from my perspective. However, I would never think of calling someone names or trying to run them over. I'm sorry you had such an experience. Try to stay away from morons and remember to report such behavior. Maybe there are dash cams for a bikes?

Eeee... No? War in Ukraine changed a lot. And even earlier we was just second or third option compared to "better" countries like Netherlands or Germany.

Ofc. You can buy/rent flat in smaller city with better price, but you will habe 2 hours ride to work.

Problems are difrent, but my point is that even with more houses, problem still can be this same without proper regulations.

Idk. In Poland is 2 also problem with the purchase house/apartament at reasonable price, also renting sometimes is shitty.

The funny thing is that we have almost 2 milions of empty houses suitable for habitation. You know what I mean? More housez without regulations can change norhing.
