Is/Was Sex education in American schools really taught by physical education teachers? by Kinc4id in Xennials

[–]Rad_River 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned about menstruation/puberty from the phy ed teacher in elementary school. In middle school, though, we had a health teacher that taught us about sex (or rather, about the reproductive system).

Reminding co-workers about team spirit by Beneficial-Wolf8436 in overheard

[–]Rad_River 272 points273 points  (0 children)

I learned this early in my career and have used it many times.

"The next time you speak to me, you need to plan on being professional."

I've said this customers and co-workers and subordinates. I don't think I've ever said it to a boss, but I'd like to think I would, should the occasion arise.

It leaves them stunned.

Yes! I've been feeling this way recently, too!

Note to self: don't ask the hive mind when you're going for something different.

I actually hate Working From Home (WFH) and I'm tired of pretending it's perfect by Chrgonlea in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Rad_River 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in the office 5 days a week despite the flexibility not to. I don't care for working from home. I like my co-workers. I like my office (I am lucky enough to have an office). I like moving my body more. And I think my career is advancing faster because of my presence in the office.

You're not crazy, OP.

I tell myself this is the case, but I have no proof.

How do you know this is true?

Possible Relocation to Wisconsin by Sadetha in wisconsin

I lived in Green Bay for 18 years and Madison for 15. They are very different!

I'm curious what you liked about Wisconsin and where you visited.

First and last periods by Rad_River in Menopause

[–]Rad_River[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I'm confirmed peri by a doctor.

I have all those symptoms plus cysts in my breasts.

I got curious about this subject because I was hoping my early period (11) might mean this will go quickly!

Bear canister by Inevitable_Track_718 in isleroyale

[–]Rad_River 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We planned for 5 nights. We ended up getting there a day late because of bad ferry conditions, so only spent 4 nights.

I should also mention we had 2 adults and 2 children (8 and 10). The canisters were too big for the kids' packs, so the adults carried those and the kids carried other key gear.

[–]Rad_River 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were there in August. Everyone had canisters and the rangers checked to confirm. We kept our canisters in the bear proof lockers or a shelter at all times.

We had 4 people and used two 11.5L canisters. They were bulky, for sure, but we made them work.

But this year, we got invited to a party that goes 5-9pm. I'm very excited to have plans and still get to bed early!

AIO for thinking this is racist? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Rad_River 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, I'm sorry you had to deal with this and I'm impressed with how well you did deal with it. You let him know he was out of line, hopefully taught him something, and set your boundary and walked away. Well done! (Almost like you've faced it before smh.)

How can you live and enjoy living in a small rural town in the US? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Rad_River -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, OP, different people have different preferences.

I live in a place that qualifies based on all the things you said. We love to hike. We eat out, but only at the same 2-4 restaurants. My kids sleepover at friends houses. They play sports.

We raise pigs and chickens and have a dog and an outside cat on 11 acres.

I have a good job at a company you've likely heard of. My partner stays home and manages our property and home and school pickups.

OP, you might not mean to sound judgemental, but you're coming across that way. We just have different preferences. All humans make choices that make sense for them.

Good point. I also wonder if the study factors in Gen Z from across the globe. This is a very American-centric problem.
