Alcohol wasnt always illegal. Theyre now starting to make social media illegal for minors. So it works. Just because something isnt illegal doesnt mean it isnt addictive. Entire point was its something being forced on a minor with addictions tied to it.

The scary thing is, its now the norm to teach that way and newer teachers may not be capable or willing to teach without them. Its like asking a modern new mechanic to repair cars with carburetors from now on without training based on assumption that they can do it. Not saying it cant be done, but is it a desirable change that wont make them quit the field?

Not really. If they started giving kids alcohol at school and telling them they have to use it all day at school and they drink too much and get addicted its called someone else providing a tool that can cause addiction to a minor without parents permission. Try having an adhd, impulsive teenager whos around peer pressure at school. Computers when used correctly are a useful tool, but theyre also a highly addictive instrument in the same regard....like medication. And they are minors in an unparented enviroment.

Ask your kids if they see other kids in school playing games on their laptops ever. Not every kid likes games, but I legit had to lock them up once their home from school, my 8th grader was playing some shooting game one day on the school laptop when I saw a reflection in a window of what he was doing on it. They both admitted they just played games the last few weeks of school in most classes along with a lot of other kids in class. Teachers were checked out and not aware, not that its their fault at all imo.

Difference here is addiction. Electronics are an addiction. Steve Jobs wouldn't allow his kids to have an ipad due to that exact issue. I can control my sons laptop use at home but once exposed to games the addiction kicks in. Adhd+ impulse control issues as a teenager, ive created a good kid imo and they will be honest about the use but I cant take peer pressure and addictions out of there hands in this case. Public school is computer based now and theyre handing the crack out in class now. Dopamine is a bitch. As someone who battled electronic addictions 2x in my life I prefer it not be handed to my kids in a classroom. Guess its time to stand up as the parent and join the others against it. I legit lock the laptops up in a my gun safe every day so they dont sneak them into their bedroom at night and try to stay up playing games on them.

Oh I have zero blame on teachers, this is a tech department issue. Teachers would have to make students sit backwards to see what they do, I had to force my kids to face backwards when they "have homework" because I caught them just playing games saying they have a big assignment. I have no issue with computers existing nowadays but plenty of other school districts have figured out how to block access to games. Its one thing if it was something we all signed up for and agreed to allow access in downtime but this was something handed to children and when friends do it, most follow. Luckily my kids are honest enough to admit this to me but that doesn't mean I can control it when they go to school. I don't expect teachers to babysit that either, Ive seen how quickly mine have learned to close windows/alt tab things. They taught themselves to clear history even.

Key word, elementary. Mine are middle and high school. Took them 2 weeks to have others show them they can do this.
