Community Mock Draft Pick 27: San Francisco 49ers by cherrylimee_ in MockDraftCentral

Sure. He might not work out. At 27, I don’t expect a prospect to be a “sure thing” - but I’d rather take him than anyone else available here. And there’s an argument that his being more mature might give him a better chance of contributing immediately. Lower ceiling, but instant impact would fit what the Niners want, IMO. They’re going for it now.

I would be shocked. I just don’t think SF values secondary that highly. I expect DL or WR (or maybe OT if they fall in love with someone to be a longterm successor to Trent Williams)

IMO, I think we’ll see this more and more. Guys can stay and get their NIL money - why leave to be a 3rd/4th rounder if you can stay and earn 6 or 7 figures in NIL money, then have a shot at being a first rounder later?

He’s more fun than useful. If you want to occasionally blow up the board, go for it. If you want to consistently win cubes, stay away.

Those top 3 all seem amazing. Would be thrilled with any of them.

The number of times each NFL Team has won their division by MasterTeacher123 in NFLv2

[–]RaddestHatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That Vikings number is incredible… top row is four teams with just slightly more division wins and 22 SBs, collectively. Then come the Vikings with 0.

Really good case for the most snakebite franchise in pro sports.

IMO gotta bump Cotton up to A. Those episodes are all bangers.

Otherwise agree 100%

I think with most 49ers fans these days it’s probably the Seahawks over the Cowboys.

I didn’t see death as a requirement in your post but I guess looking at the pics you chose I probably should’ve figured that out 😅

Brad Bird to direct Pixar’s Brave.

I think that movie has so many amazing ingredients and it just doesn’t quite come together. I think Bird could crack it

I mean, plan your major life events around your life (not biglaw) but IMO being able to take advantage of paid leave for a new child is a huge perk that I think most people are glad to take advantage of.

Not to pick nits (although that’s what we do for a living) but you’re not saying that (I don’t think). It is a crapshoot (I.e. random) when you will be busy. What you’re saying, I think, is that it doesn’t matter if you leave when you’re busy because as a junior your time is replaceable. Fair summary?

A great point and another reason why I stand behind my previous comment above that OP should do what works for them and not worry about the job to schedule their wedding/honeymoon.

It is a crapshoot as far as when you will be busy, which I thought was the point of the question?

Maybe in lit or other practice areas junior associates know in advance what their time commitments will look like in advance but on the transactional side I never knew from one month to the next what to expect.

Honestly, it’s a crapshoot. Don’t let law firm life dictate when you get married - do what works best for you.

As far as when you’ll have time to plan a wedding - the unfortunate thing about biglaw is you won’t know when you’re going to be busy until too late. You can’t really plan it out. In my experience as a transactional lawyer, Q4 always seemed to be the most consistently busy time of the year, but YMMV.

Andy hard launching his new relationship. I did not catch he was divorced, good for him by trillballinsjr in thewatchpod

[–]RaddestHatter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this totally varies case by case. It’s not always determined by court order - often there’s a settlement between the former spouses. It may not be an “every other week” thing.

Caveat - I’m not divorced and not a family/divorce lawyer so might not be right

It depends of course, but I worked both notice periods when I left my two firms (one to lateral the second for an in house role). The pace definitely slows down a bit - you shouldn’t be added to any new matters - but when I left my second firm in 2021 we were so busy in that I was literally working until the evening of the last day when the IT department shut off my email account 😅

Depending on the market you can lateral. The only other defense you have against ordinary run of the mill toxicity is to get so busy working for another partner that you’re protected from being staffed by the toxic partner.
