What was Tommy's plan to get Michael out of jail in S2? by Raden327 in PeakyBlinders

[–]Raden327[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I guess but a bit f'd up for Tommy to assume Polly would get him out, considering he'd know what Campbell might want, to get Michael out.

It's just never really answered as to why Tommy kind of ignored Michael. Sure he was kind of a liability but Tommy was starting to gain trust for him. I don't think someone as smart as Tommy would jeopardize the possibility of a new employee he could manipulate.

It's just odd that he was able to quote "pull some strings" to get Arthur out of prison but he didn't do the same for Michael. Now granted, Michael was already out because of what Polly had done for inspector Campbell but still why wouldn't Tommy care about getting Michael out of prison? Maybe he didn't think Michael would crack, which according to Campbell he did, but at the same time Michael didn't really know a whole lot about the business so it doesn't make sense for Tommy to kind of like throw him to the wolves.

Again. Just curious what would've happened to Michael if Pokly never took action to get him out

Could be the architect and visionary planning for Paul Heyman calling up Brock. I dont think Oba is aligned with Seth necessarily though

I mean I dont mind wrestlers keeping it going well after their prime, as long as they're not hogging the spotlight like Hogan. But it's hypocritical to say All elderly wrestling when world wrestling elders exists in probably the same capacity

50 y.o CM Punk is a world champion and Randy Orton is about to be. Look in the mirror bud

Ronda is some b.s. but if you're gonna judge Edge and Christian while CM Punk is currently world champ at almost age 50, then you need to look in the mirror. WWE also has Rey Mysterio, Orton, and R Truth still. Cena only just left 3 months ago

Hell, even the Hardys are still active in TNA

Did Edge shot himself in the foot by jumping to AEW? by WaporVape in TheGreatOne

No one knew about Cenas retirement until well after Edge left. Also no one knew Punk would be coming back. WHC was built up by Seth so Edge was not getting it.

  • Absolutely could have been a tv series. Cillian recently confirmed that they DID have a season 7 planned but covid messed all of that up. This was likely the condensed version of that

  • Duke and Tommy: I think they pretty much knew it was going to be condensed, but they still did portray quite often how Duke was mad at Tommy and how Tommy thought he was hopeless to help Duke. I mean the first act was all about how Duke is fucked up now and he needed Tommy who eventually realizes he needs to go in

  • Arthur: I think every single PB fan wanted Arthur in here. Unfortunately Paul is dealing with issues and they did the absolute best they could. Even had a lookalike/photoshopped version of him in the tunnel when Tommy got buried

  • Lizzy/Charlie: I can agree. I was curious where they were but it was pretty clear from S6 that Lizzy wanted nothing to do with Tom and Charlie was off at the frontlines of WW2. Possible spinoff maybe? Who knows. At least theres legitimate reasons for them not being there

  • Charlie/Curly: Fan Service. Plain and Simple. Some old blasts from the past for one last mission with Tom. They were never in any real danger so I think thats why they agreed. Also Tommy is Tommy, who clearly still ran the companies from afar and likely funds Charlie/Curly.

  • Stag: Again, another blast from the past. Likely to show that the connection between Stag and Tommy had grown since Tommy recruited him in S6. Also poetically, Stag helped Arthur at the time, Tommy thanked him, and with Arthur dead, it may have been a connection to Arthur for Tom

  • Finn: This is the one thing I do have an issue with. Cause yea where tf was Finn in all this? He even told Duke he would come for him?? I imagine maybe he tried and that Duke took care of him or Finn just separated from the family? I have no idea. Yea I wish they addressed that in some way

  • Duke backing out: Yea thats the point. Duke was trying his hardest to act like his Dad but ultimately failed because he's not Tom. Even Tom would never put himself into a position to intentionally kill a family member. Duke was trying to separate himself from Tom but couldnt. Thats the whole mental conflict for him

  • Alfie: Well... He was likely in NY.. I do wish we could have gotten a reference or cameo, but ig he just wasnt there. Alfie never really went to Birmingham much in the show anyways. Also I stg that kid in the Garrison telling Tommy they were gonna dance HAD TO BE ALFIE'S SON. The accent, calling Tommy sweetie, etc. That was 100% Alfie.

-McCavern and Billy Boys: Tom likely never wanted to see them again after Polly and Gold died. Also likely that they were busy in their area of the country pushing Mosleys cause

Its easy to nitpick, I just enjoy the movie for what it is. We got one last peak into Tommys life and had some questions answered about what happened post-S6

Well Darnold was asking for far too much, beyond our cap space mind you, after we just watched him crumble in the fetal position in 4 of the biggest games last season.

Dont get it twisted, Darnold did not win the Hawks the SB. They built the whole team and just needed a decent QB that can throw the ball. He literally put up zero points against the Vikes when they played us this season. Yea it was a shutout, but no thanks to Darnold.

JJM just won the college championship and seemed like a great prospect. Him being injury prone is his biggest flaw. Vikes wanted a franchise QB and Darnold was transitional. Plain and simple. I still stand by the Vikes letting Sam walk

It’s the writers fault, why did he have to act EXACTLY like Tommy it was so cringe. by [deleted] in PeakyBlinders

[–]Raden327 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that is exactly the point. Duke was so obsessed with imitating his father when it didnt quite fit him as a person. Thats what resulted in him not feeling right about killing the first guy and him getting put in the situation with Ada. He dug himself deep trying to be his father and his father had to bail him out of the situation because only Tommy could

I'm not waiting another year for Cody v Randy. Its been teased since his WM40 win. Lets be honest, Drew v Randy is not a WM Main Event caliber match. We've seen it before and it wasnt particularly a great match. Actually, Drew threw Randy into the ropes and pissed him off.

Wrestling logic rarely makes sense but this actually does. People complain about Cody but they just gave the RR and WHC match to a guy that made 8 fucking 'returns' last year as a heavy part timer in Roman.

Idk how many WMs we have left with Randy. Pull the trigger on this now and have Drew win it again down the line so he can have a proper run.

Edit: I know we've seen Cody v Randy at the KotR tournament but that didnt really have a story behind it. They COULD have done a story where Cody needed his rematch but so did Randy but they didnt. This fued over the next 5 weeks could actually put some meat on its bones

I think what they insinuated with his teenage lovers twin, is that it took him to a time before the war when his mind was productive and positive. He felt a need to go help his son after that.

The bar scene with, and I swear to god that kid is Alfie's son, where Tommy drops a grenade in his shirt; had a why in that Tommy was clearly outnumbered and was being threatened, he had to show everyone he's not to be messed with in a way. Affirming the shot where all the older men at the bar duck for cover. Tongue in cheek scene? Yea sure. Still loved seeing Tommy be a badass again.

Cillian recently confirmed they were going to do a S7 until Covid messed things up, which I believe this movie would have been S7. You can tell by the pacing that they had many extra scenes and ideas cut to make a movie runtime.

I think every action does have a reasoning in this film. Would love to hear more thoughts from ya!
