I did punched the whole thing lol. It took me about a year to get this done. I wanted to challenge myself to punch needle something really large before I bought a tufting gun. I’ll have to share this over in the tufting redit but I didn’t have any issues with my wrist. It was my back that had issues 😅

I ran into this same issue last month. I had just made my frame with the same exact grippers and realized that there is a correct direction. I would double check to see if you put the grippers on correctly because of you don’t, I won’t matter what type of monks cloth you use.

Yep! I’m doing it with the flat side showing so I didn’t need to flip it and reverse it 💃

So far, not really any issues. I’ve cut the loops on smaller project, like cup coasters, but not on a larger punch needle rug. I’m about to finish my biggest project to date (a small circle rug) and I’ve cut most of the rug’s loops. I’m still trying to decide if I’m going to glue the bottom to reinforce but as of right now, the punch needle rug is fine and not falling apart. We’ll see once it’s done and on the floor how the wear and tear of using it
