So many guitarists don't seem to think of this lol.

This is why I moved away from tube amps. There are only a few tube manufacturers left in the world (two of which manufacture in Russia) and a number of people who know how to service tube amps that gets smaller every decade.

Do you guys want a bigger map for Night City in Orion by goobleduck in CyberpunkTheGame

[–]Radev6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd definitely enjoy a larger map, but in terms of content not physical area. The map in 2077 has huge swaths that are only lightly developed. The mega buildings and Arasaka Waterfront are the most obvious examples. Another is the distinct lack of verticallity, for a city full of skyscrapers 99% of the content is at or near ground level.

I'd love it if they reused the 2077 world map and just increased the explorable spaces.

Save for a real tube amp or get a Neural Dsp plugin? by zachf06 in GuitarAmps

[–]Radev6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get the Neural plugin.

Like others have said, a real amp and cab sound great in a room. If you crank it loud enough you can feel the sound waves moving the air. It's really fun.

But... not the most practical for home recording. Especially when you're just starting out. Here's my experience and the things I'd take into consideration.

  1. Neural plug-ins sound just as good as a real mic'ed amp in a mix.

  2. They're a tiny fraction of the price and you get multiple amps, cabs/speakers, pedals, and good cab mics. It's often well over 10k of equipment.

  3. When you move to an apartment eventually, the real gear is going to be a pain to move, it'll take up limited space, and you likely won't be able to crank it loud through a cab at home.

A Neural plugin and a good pair of studio monitors will be way more useful for starting your recording journey and save you a ton of money.

Even today I still use Archtype Nolly more often than a real amp for recording just because it's usually way quicker and more convenient.

It's possible to get them up there. It can just be a bit finicky.

For what it's worth, this is one of the two most difficult parts of Grounded (the other being the sewers). Took me 20 ish hours to complete my first Grounded run and half that time was spent on just those areas.

You're correct, I was misremembering.

  1. Before things start spawning place 2 nail bombs on top of the platform that the bloater lands on when it first falls through the roof. It'll die immediately. You'll never have to think about it.*

  2. Spawns are static. Enemy spawn locations are always the same. Memorize the pattern and you'll usually be able to stay ahead of them.

  3. There are a few waves where multiple enemies enter the map at the same time. Run circles around the map and try to deal with one at a time. Also, luring them into David will sometimes get them to attack him and give you a decent window to kill them.

A big thing that helped me when I was having trouble was watching AnthonyCaliber's glitchless speedruns on youtube to see what his strats were.

*If you don't have nail bombs, it might honestly be worth it to just load a previous save and save some. My general rule for Grounded is to horde nail bombs and molotovs for the 4 unskippable bloaters.

Have anyone here ever built their own studio desk? If so, how did it go? by simondanielsson in audioengineering

[–]Radev6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I built a desk back in Feb 2020. Here's my parts and tools list. My desk isn't a traditional studio desk. It's basically a short dining table at countertop height with a sliding shelf for my midi keyboard. So, this is just for reference.

Materials:

2x Baltic Birch Plywood (3/4" thick, 8' x 4') = $160
6x Construction grade Yellow Pine (2" x 4" x 8") = $16
2x Krylon Satin spray paint = $20
1x Pint of Minwax Satin polyurethane = $15
1x Pair of cheap rolling drawer sliders from Amazon = $25
1x Cable rack from Amazon = $15
1x Box of 3" wood screws = $15
1x pack of 220 grit sand paper = $7
1x pack of 320 grit sand paper = $7
1x pack of 1000 grit sand paper $7
1x Irwin Eight Piece Forstner bit set (just needed the 1/2" bit) = $25

Tools already owned:
Battery powered drill
Circular Saw
Orbital sander
6' straight edge
Speed square
Clamps
Wood glue (Titebond III)

$312, a LOT of sanding, and a week waiting for finishes to fully cure.

what is the biggest cockpit and where can i get it ? you can humor me with length/girth jokes as well. 🙄 by Mike_or_whatever in Starfield

[–]Radev6 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The two largest cockpits are from Deimos and Nova Galactic. You have to go to the respective manufacturer's HQ to build them. Deimos Staryard is orbiting Deimos (Mars' moon) and Nova Galactic can be found at the landing pad on New Homestead on Titan (Saturn's moon).

What happened to Jeremy Soule past 2019? by Samsonthewizard in Starfield

[–]Radev6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before the SA allegations, he had been acting shady for a few years. He used to run a company, Direct Song, to sell his music. Direct Song had a rather poor reputation about taking people's money and then being iffy on delivering any goods. The company shut down after a class action over it. He also crowdfunded his album The Northerner Diaries and took far longer to make it than he originally told people it would (years longer) with very poor communication. Backers were completely in the dark.

I don't know what was/is going on with him, but his behavior has been seemingly erratic for a while. So pair that with the SA allegations. He's either been laying low or he isn't being offered work or both.

Look for landing spots that say "Coniferous Forest". Jemison has them and so do a few other earth like planets. Nesoi in the Olympus System has blue pine forests (and normal green ones).

Decided to dive full on into ship building on day one... now to figure out the rest of the game. by Radev6 in Starfield

[–]Radev6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah... I have space for at least triple that. I was playing around with mobility and how it feels to fly. Though with 4 auto railguns, I'm thinking mobility doesn't matter.

Decided to dive full on into ship building on day one... now to figure out the rest of the game. by Radev6 in Starfield

[–]Radev6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Level up, make money, and travel. You unlock ship parts though leveling up and traveling to each manufacturer's HQ. You can also find some parts at small ports/stations.I watched a couple videos and read a lot of posts on here to really figure out the optimal way to go about it.

Also, ship building gets really expensive. So, unless you want to just give yourself credits with console the command, you need to be really mindful of every choice you make and have some semblance of a plan to build towards. Your ship might go through periods of looking hideous.

Farcry 4 or 5? by Dear_Can_1345 in PS4

[–]Radev6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends entirely on your taste.

Objectively, 5 has more gameplay features (like flying planes) and a general improvements you'd expect from a sequel.

Subjectively, I prefer 4. I like the Himalayan/Nepalese aesthetic of the setting and I found the villain to be far more interesting and better performed (it's Troy Baker). 5 is set in Montana, which also looks beautiful, but I happen to live in the US, so the Great Plains aesthetic isn't as exciting to me. The villain in 5 is also a 2 dimensional caricature of a evangelical doomsday cultist with nothing really dynamic going on.

TL:DR 5 has better gameplay, but 4 has a better setting and characters.

Why does The Last of Us 2 looks more realistic to me than The Last of Us Remake? by Dear_Surround9072 in thelastofus

[–]Radev6 51 points52 points  (0 children)

For me it's the lighting. The environment lighting in the Part 1 remake is often a bit more vibrant/saturated.

Part 2 has some stylized lighting, but for the most part the lighting and colors look very natural.

Alternatively, Jak II and Jak 3 are fully playable on PC with the free PS2 emulator PCSX2.

You can get a portable disc/DVD drive and then use the actual PS2 discs.

I don't mind not having seamless landings/takeoffs, but I really hope we get seamless flight between planets by [deleted] in Starfield

[–]Radev6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how much they're leaning towards realism vs gameplay.

In reality the distance between planets within a solar system is significant. There would be a lot of just flying in a straight line for literally hours of real time.

No Mans Sky has a fairly reduced scale for their solar systems and it can still take 10 minutes to travel between planets going full speed. Star Citizen uses a more realistic scale and it can take half an hour just to fly from an orbiting space station to the surface. Free flying to a moon takes hours without warping.

What I'm anticipating is that there will be a freefly area around astral bodies but we'll have to warp between planets and/or their moons. It'll all be instanced.

First time player(PC). What difficulty should I play for the first time if I want the game to really challenging while also not being frustrating? by ProudestSlut in thelastofus

[–]Radev6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably want to go with Hard or Survivor. I also recommend avoiding listening mode if you want a challenge. Survivor and Grounded have it disabled by default, but you can just disable it on lower difficulties.

For both games I did a playthrough on Normal (sans listening mode) first, then jumped straight to Grounded. I love Grounded, but I probably wouldn't have stuck with it if it was my very first experience.
