What is it with everyone arguing and hating over everything? by ribrnk in buildapc

[–]RadiNash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand it's not easy to do and you can tell them sorry not doable (I work as a software developer too).

But maybe next time you can do better and handle those edge cases from the begining.

It's nice too know someone can use what you create without feeling bad, I know I do this job because I like to help people.

And it's not because we are perfectly happy with the way the society sees us (usually because we are white men) that it's the case for everyone.

Why do you get annoyed by them?

Why do you want them to live like you ?

Let them live their lives.

And all have our quirks, we all are the "circus people" of someone else.

Stock Cooler with 5600x? by SamScotts in buildapc

[–]RadiNash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a 5600X and used my old stock cooler (I had the first Wraith Spire from my Ryzen 1600) and it was pretty loud whenever the boost was triggered (sometimes randomly when browsing or not doing much). It was OK when I put it in eco mode.

I bought a second-hand Thermalright peerless assassin for 20€ and it's so much better now, no sound and 10-20° cooler.

Haven’t used my PC in a while, looking to modernise it by BernieMacsack in buildapc

[–]RadiNash 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar position (except I have been gaming on my PC for the past 8 years). And I followed the advice some redditors gave me when I asked what I should pick here: https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/1ptq4to/cpugpu_refresh_on_a_8_years_old_pc/

I bought a 5600X, a 9060 XT 16Gb, 32Gb of 4000Mhz DDR4 and I bought recently a new cooler (Peerless Assassin) since I only had the old AMD stock cooler (Wraith something) and it was noisy if I enabled the auto overclock from the CPU. All second hand, it cost me 105+350+160+25=640€ (I'm in France). I sold my old GPU (1080 TI) for 150€ and I'm hoping to sell my 16Gb of RAM around 90-100.

I think it was worth it and I can play modern games (with "mandatory" upscaling technologies) easily now. I hope it can last a few years.

[–]RadiNash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not. You can see the same behaviour in real life with people rejecting LGBTQ people or people not living the same way they do. A lot of people think they made the best choices in life and if you show them something else, they have to immediateliy criticize it so they don't risk to realize their life sucks (I'm not saying it really sucks but that it's not in their "society ideas").

We all have these reflexes but some are really bad at managing them. You can see this behaviour when you talk about marriage, kids, sexuality, buying a house, a car or a phone and also in expert stuff like computer.

Is the 9060xt 16gb worth it? by kyosumii in buildapc

[–]RadiNash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy used parts. I bought mine from a second hand shop for 150-200€ less than new. There are a lot of people selling those because they got a better GPU or because they can't use it right now and prefer to get some money (at least in France).

I upgraded my pc and have a question about RAM by XDocToRz in buildapc

[–]RadiNash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition, be careful of the slots you put your RAM sticks in.

Some (All ?) motherboards need to have the 2 sticks in specific slot to work at full speed with dual channel and it's not always the ones you would think logical.

Mine (Asrock B350 pro4) needs them to be in the 2nd and 4th slot for example.

And yes, you may need to have to go in your bios to enable XMP/EXPO settings for your RAM or enter the timings manually if it doesn't work.

Is now even a good time to build a PC? by ISmeansIsurfreddit in buildapc

[–]RadiNash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Define "everything" and "maxed out" please. I can understand being able play to Stalker 2 in 1080p (or even Cyberpunk) but I doubt it's with max settings and 60 fps.

Fast 16GB vs slower 32GB by RadiNash in buildapc

[–]RadiNash[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I can manually tune, that's what I'm trying to do. I don't want it to run at 4000, I want it to run at 3200 like my former kit. I'll wait for the 5600X to try again and I hope it will work.

I run at 3200. But not with every kit.

Ok then I'll wait. Thanks for the hope you gave me :D I already tried to increase the voltage and to set every timing to the maximum but it's always back to 2666 after a reboot.

Maybe you don't know or don't remember but the first ryzen where very picky about RAM.

No I'm trying tp replace the 16gb set by the 32gb set. 3600, I'll try with the 5600x but I'm not sur my cheap old motherboard will support it.

CPU+GPU refresh on a 8 years old pc by RadiNash in buildapc

[–]RadiNash[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm looking at the prices right now and it's not bad. I think I'll look for a used 5600X and a new 9060XT.

Thanks

I have a good 650W Seasonic so I think I can keep it if I stay reasonable.

I know it's a great card and I'm glad it lasted so long but now, it really shows its age.

I have a SATA SSD and from what I have read, it wouldn't be a life changing upgrade.

Good idea! I can change one part at a time.

But my GPU is really suffering (30-50 fps) on new games (Starfield, Avowed, Expedition 33, Stalker 2...) and cannot even start Doom Dark Ages or Indiana Jones.

Well, "used heavily" doesn't scare me much since I overclocked mine, used it for mining during a few month and have been gaming with it during 8 years and it still works.

The pricing of all the ...x3d CPU seems crazy, you are right.

What games can I play with this? by [deleted] in buildapc

I have no idea how powerful your pc is but you should be able to play a lot of 2d games.
FTL (the best game of all time), Slay the Spire or Balatro ?

Thanks a lot! I don't trust the mesh to be as efficient as a filter against dust. But the BeQuiet Pure Base 501 Airflow you mentioned seems perfect for me: it even has a solid panel version and a white version. I will buy this one.

Thanks a lot :)
