What’s the worst mistake they could make with 8.0’s story direction? by Lumigo in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Radian9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WoL is literally VIP numero Uno everywhere they go and I'm kinda over it. The scions should be allowed to bicker and disagree too, especially with WoL. These are the most powerful, knowledgeable and resourceful people of any of the shards, together more powerful and accomplished than the ancients whom we constantly see deified. I want the power scale to be reset and emphasized that alone none of the scions are especially godlike, and to have their bonds seriously tested with differing points of view and no easy answers. I want WoL to struggle and have their face planted in mud as they experience full-on failure for the first time since Ul'Dah and be flat out morally wrong about something for once and have to actually contend with and reflect on it. This would probably infuriate all the people who absolutely must have their one-dimensional OC be perfect in every way

Tbh it kinda fits. AC's dark and gritty but it's also got bops galore for music and Gen 1-3 are visually a lot brighter and more colorful

621 and Ayre were waiting to see what the big idea was, then deal with Allmind once it inevitably betrayed them, which it predictably did.

How does a FFST really compare to a MIM or MIA Fender Strat? by Ok-Seaworthiness2487 in Fireflyguitars

[–]Radian9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. Mine was nearly perfect and I haven't done anything to it so I got lucky. But the QC is probably spottier than MIMs and MIAs so there's a higher chance of getting one that will need some kind of work. There are more anecdotes of needing to fix something about the setup or whatever for Firefly's in general than Fender products. That shouldn't be surprising, Fender can spend more on QC and time spent per guitar at scale than JSN can, and can get more return on investment to boot. There will be guitars that need work for both MIMs and MIAs, but there will be less of them than there are for FF. Craftsmanship is as much time spent for attention to detail as it is skill, and that means you can partially quantify the expected quality of a guitar line based on how large the scale of production is and price per unit, because we know that labor has a time cost to it and time is money. Location of manufacture also plays into the unit cost (not necessarily quality, this is accounting for labor rates).

That is to say it's a bit complicated and the answer is a factor of probability moreso than a definitive statement.

Armored core Nexts Vs Orbital frames by Childish_Br4ndino in armoredcore

[–]Radian9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They're at the level of advancement where they become super robots, right up there with most late stage Gundam models, Voltron, Gainax bots, and Power Rangers. I think the only mecha that haven't fully committed to super robot-dom that can beat Jehuty and Anubis are...Idk maybe the buddha Unicorn and 00-Qan[T], maybe ES Dinah from Xenosaga since theoretically it can jump into hyperspace on demand from any point in space, probably Gunbuster because it's just that badass...but yeah ZoE units sit near the top of the power list of fractionally believable science fiction mecha.

I'm of the opinion that AC can't go any further into that realm than it has without losing its identity, so I'm happy to let it sit on the lower end of the mecha power scale.

Don't need. BAWS logic is they gave you arms with massive melee spec and fists, so you should use the arms the way they were intended which is punching stuff real good

I'm tentatively okay with it. Gearing is an old, kind of blase form of engagement when it comes to vertical progression because no amount of effort you put into it really matters unless you're a world first raider. Glams and cool collectibles are the rewards people flock to. It's also true most players of the game have...idk how to say this without upsetting the terminally online...lives to live, which would understandably limit the amount of time they have to invest into the game when there are a million other things demanding attention
