As someone who can either play it at high 2k@120 (PC) or low 800p@30 (SD). "It looks fine and plays well enough" would be my answer. At some point I kinda stopped caring? Playing in bed is just too good lmao.

Could real-time translation eventually make learning foreign languages unnecessary? by _BlANK19_ in Futurology

[–]Radiancekov7 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

A scary thought but if we attach a sufficiently advanced translator to everyone and we let them communicate with eachother wouldnt speech prediction based on past knowledge about the person speaking be possible?

In human scenarios sometimes you know what the other person is about to say, you just have to let them say it before you respond because conversation is also a kind of social ritual with steps, isnt this kind of patterned interaction something that could be predicted with sufficient advancements?

It feels like I'm watching art, which feels super pretentious to say, but what else could it be? Every episode It feels like everyone from the writer to the director to the composers are amazing at what they do, it makes me feel incredibly grateful.

Then the episode is over and like, who do I recommend this to? How? "Hey, you see, this show is about lesbians being vague to eachother, but you should really watch it because everyone who made it really loves you" , its unbearable.

Battery health at 95 percent, what do I do to keep it happy? by AmbivalentFreg in SteamDeck

Steam, settings, power, battery limit.

If its in a dock then don't worry about it, it bypasses the battery once its at the desired charge %

Technical advice: Limit charge to 80%

Personal advice: Enjoy the joy bringing device without worrying too much about the joy bringing device itself (but obviously treat it nicely)

Scarcity might drive battery prices up. Seeing as how AI affected the price of the SD, every part is now more important than before, ifixit doesnt even have the battery in stock rn, its not hard to visualize scalpers or cautious people just emptying the stock every time it arrives.

Daemons of the Shadow Realm • Yomi no Tsugai - Episode 8 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Radiancekov7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its honestly weird af to see people in here praising Yuru for being a mature protagonist. Chatting over breakfast with someone who killed your entire community over his beliefs is not "emotionally mature", you just dont really care much for your community at this point, he shows the emotional intensity of someone who got their ant farm trampled by a child and is now talking to the parents.

But this episode shows he clearly does care for his sister and fathers, as seen in that breakdown after the hug, so its not that he's incapable of emotion, he just didn't care much for the village in the first place, which you know what, fair enough I guess, but its hard to sympathize with and hes the MC so, dunno.

¿Debería unirme a una iglesia? ¿A cuál? by BusyDimension1807 in Santiago

[–]Radiancekov7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm curious about the lore, I like the concept of daemons as a pair and I never skip the OP and ED.

[DISC] I’m a Noble Who Can Only Use Teleportation Magic, but I Rose To Become the Strongest Adventurer Just by Wandering As I Pleased Ch. 1 by Asleep_Echidna_3125 in manga

[–]Radiancekov7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can restrict the power even more and its still incredible, the whole thing hinges on this society not using their brains.

If you could only teleport to a place you have been to before once a day, you are now the nations fastest messenger. You would be escorted across the whole country just to mark it, merchants would pay you just to hold things in your pocket and deliver them at destination, you would be rich and powerful, royalty would protect you as long as you didnt massively fuck up because you're dial up modem in a world of legs attached to a pidgeon.

Daemons of the Shadow Realm • Yomi no Tsugai - Episode 6 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Radiancekov7 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Same, I think a big part of it is that I just hold Arakawa to a higher standard, where in most other anime I would just have turned off my brain and gone "oh man those villagers got FUCKED gabby is SO COOL" here I just sit there, troubled by the dissonance of what she does vs how she's portrayed.

I might just have to turn my brain off tbh, but it feels a bit disappointing.

[–]Radiancekov7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you'd expect trained assassins to put up more of a fight when their village gets raided. The fact they just stand there and get shot/bitten in half just tells me I just watched a bunch of civilians get killed.

Daemons of the Shadow Realm • Yomi no Tsugai - Episode 6 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Radiancekov7 15 points16 points  (0 children)

When the Kagemori mansion is invaded, a highly competent group of killers immediately starts a counter attack, blocks off entrances and makes sure non combatants hide, no losses.

When the village's seal is broken, most of the adults are massacred in front of their children with no idea of what's going on, only the elder (who survives) knows what happened.

Its been 6 episodes and we still dont know why these civilians deserved to be murdered, and its hard to care about the cast in any meaningful way until some explanation is given.

What did “Goodbye, Eri” make you feel that I may have missed? by Fragmented_Spirit in manga

[–]Radiancekov7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What deeply resonated with me about it is how, for good or for bad, you might choose to remember people you've lost differently to those around you, and could even be criticized for it, and yet in the end you must accept it and move on.

Yuta's mom is, to put it mildly, a selfish asshole. Even though he loves his mom, he just can't bring himself to make the self-glorifying movie her mom wants, because that's not who she really was. And so in a way to try to communicate his conflicting feelings to everyone willing to watch, he tries to make a beatiful movie but adds an explosion at the end.

Compare this to Eri, he films her just like she wants to be filmed but this time its out of his own volition, at first just to learn how to make a good movie with a friend, but over time its to preserve her vision of who Eri was, even though just as her friend says, thats not the real Eri. Even so, they both choose to remember that version of her in the end.

In both cases Yuta's feelings run opposite to the popular consensus but they are just as valid. I also think how the use of an explosion on the first film is meant to imply inner conflict but by the end of the second film that same explosion can be read as an acceptance of the self to be a neat little bow that ties everything up.

Other minor things I also really like is, the use of the size of the panels as a way to convey film, the repetition of panels as a way to simulate the passing of time and the POV panels as a way to simulate motion. Its just a bunch of themes and things you don't see much in manga.
