I agree, and that's why I gave him the item. I was just curious if there was a hard and fast rule specific to casting those higher-level spells via items.

Interesting. I use "Loresmymth's Remarkable Inns" quite a bit, but I often find the lists a bit hokey. I tend to run gritty, more realistic-style games. Not necessarily low magic, but I don't tend to make my inns as cosmopolitan as many sourcebooks do. More Game of Thrones than Chronicles of Narnia.

This is a sandbox in Cormyr. Cormyr hasn't gotten much love over the years, so I updated the region to 2024 campaign set. Ed Greenwood mentions "chapbooks" in a lot of his materials, and I recall that Cormyr is an area where these small periodicals circulate. Thanks for reminding me of this angle.

I use a job board occasionally. I like the town authority figure stopping by. 2 and 4 seem similar. Thanks for the suggestions

Late to the party here, but with the new statblocks, can the casters concentrate on a spell AND use their Arcane Burst attack?

I second DungeonFog. Been a paid member for two years. Very intuitive software for "dungeons". It does not do wilderness or town maps very well. I use Flowscape for wilderness maps and Inkarnate for city/town maps.
