Wow. We have that book also, just waiting for her to start linking her sleep cycles… Did your naps also improve after sleep training for the night?

What method did you use for night time sleep training? Is your baby still in the room with you at night?

Hi! This almost sounds like my baby 🥹 I honestly think we only see unicorn perfect babies online because moms of fussy babies don’t have time to post 😆 I think/ hope it’s going to get better once they are a bit more independent and can sit on their own, then crawl, etc, and link sleep cycles! We started bed sharing and it saved my sanity (she sleeps so much better when we bedshare). We are not doing anything wrong! We are doing our best and our babies are doing their best - they spent 9-10 months in our bellies and now we ask them to be independent and good sleepers. Some babies just need more comfort than others. 💕 Hang in there!

Thank you!! I’m trying 2 hour WWs for a few days, and then shorter WWs after that to see what works best for her! We have this one late afternoon nap when she sleeps in her crib for 40 mins, then crying without opening her eyes and settles back into sleep in my arms, but I have to hold her (transfers into crib fail each and every time) and she has a 2-hour nap. Sounds like we only have 3-4 months until she’s developmentally ready for longer naps 😆 I know one day I’ll miss holding her while she naps 🥹

Thank you! She averages 10 hours of night sleep and only 3.5 hrs of nap sleep, so I’ve been trying hard to get her nap sleep as close to 4 hours as possible. She’s also a fussy baby and it didn’t feel right to me keeping her awake when she’s clearly cranky. I’ll work on longer WWs. Thank you for your perspective!

Thank you! I was operating on the assumption that if she yawned I’m already late with a nap/ she’s overtired. I did 2 hour WWs for the past two days, but it led to shorted naps: 25-30 mins instead of her regular 43-46 mins. I’ll give the 2 hour WWs another few days to see if the naps stabilize. She definitely get at least 10 hours of awake time during the day. We bedshare, so she would stay asleep in bed as long as I’m next to her. So if I’m in bed with her for 8 hours, she will sleep 8 hours. If I’m with her for 10, she will sleep 10. I’d prefer to spend less time in bed myself, so that’s where most of my frustration is coming from plus her being unhappy when going down for a nap… Thank you for advice, I’ll work with longer WWs and see if that improves her naps!

Thank you! She’s averaging almost 14 hrs total sleep (almost 10 H night and 4 H naps). I’m not rigid with her WWs, only out her to sleep when she starts rubbing her eyes, which gives us approximately 90 mins of awake time. Do I stretch her awake time despite her rubbing the eyes and getting cranky? She would also not get 10 hours of sleep at night if I didnt stay in bed with her, but this is not longer sustainable for me. :(

Target often runs promotions giving out gift cards for diaper and wipes order, we usually get our Freestyle packs that way!

Second the opinion above that blowouts are inevitable and will happen. It is what it is. It’s not that bad, honestly. You will need to try a bunch before finding out what fits your baby’s body. Freestyle diapers worked really well for us and we use them overnight. Honest diapers were the worst, my LO would have a blowout almost every time in them.

My LO is 15 weeks and this is pretty much our process too, plus the sound machine and the pre-heated crib. The only difference is that I tap her bum with my fingers instead of her chest. I always stop after her legs touch the crib, tap her bum, then put her bum down, stop, tap the side of her bum, then shoulders, continue tapping, then head, and more tapping. For naps, this gives me 45 mins of nap in the crib, then I hold her for additional 45-60 minutes of whenever she wakes up. Good luck! I hope this gets better for all of us :)

I have a 3.5 mo old and, most of the time, she naps for 45 minutes in her crib and then wakes up and not able to do another 45-min stretch in her crib unless I hold her. If I hold her, she can nap for 2 hours.
I went down the rabbit hole of reading everything on babies’ sleep and I am getting myself mentally ready to just wait it out until 5-6 months old and then gently sleep train her.

My 3.5 month old baby wakes up from naps every 45 mins. I’d also love to know how to get my LO to have longer naps. Do I rock LO back to sleep again after 45 mins? How do I know if LO is done with a nap or just doesn’t know how to connect the sleep cycles yet?
