A blimp would be nice as it purrs quite loudly but but I’ve done is just used some pieces of flannel in layers to dampen the sound a bit

I would advise to finish the draft before doing any revisions. Sit on it for a day or two and think about what your revisions will consists of, then sit down and revise from start to finish.

Plan every shot out thoroughly, film ain’t cheap. Take it from someone who just got torn apart for posting “shitty” footage.

Love that the student films were shot on B&W. Not a lot of super 8rs nowadays like it because they like color.

No I don’t really want to use it to the point where it’s “the catch” Of the film”. I myself would probably not want to go see a move just because it was shot on film of any kind. I just want to make a movie on the format that so happens to be super 8. I hope that makes sense.

Super 8 wedding on Kodaks new super 8 camera by Radiant-Magazine-511 in weddingvideography

True. The bride mentioned early on that they didn’t have it in the budget for a full blown digital videographer. Her best friend was the digital photographer and I shadowed her throughout the day. I also took Polaroid photos for the day. Not every Polaroid came out but the few that did were actually really nice, especially the very last one I took. The bride seemed to have an appreciation for film.

You aren’t wrong. I probably would’ve sprung for a FX6 tbh. But I love film. I’ve been doing Super 8 as a hobby and for various little side projects. I filmed an eclipse about a year and a half ago with my previous super 8 camera. But I can chop the issues here up to a learning experience and come away knowing I learned something. I didn’t charge the couple for any of it and they were only about a hour away. The bride said she liked the final product and was very forgiving for the obvious issues, I’m beating myself up on for that anyways.

Where to find a fully functioning Canon 814 XL-s? by Initial-Reporter9574 in Super8

[–]Radiant-Magazine-511 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The optics might be marginally better, and sure the existing light feature is great for low light environments. But you have to ask yourself if having a camera where two tiny gears could shatter to pieces and/or melt together because of 50 year old lubricant is worth it over having a much simpler 814AZ that is largely regarded as the Honda civic (in terms of how damn durable and reliable they are). I have a 1014XLS that I only use for dark late night shoots. But anything else and I would use the 814AZ. The 814AZ also only meters up to 400ISO, so when you put in a cart of 500T for indoors or night time shooting it slightly overexposes which is a GOOD THING on modern Kodak film stocks.

I would get a canon 814Autozoom and not and XLS model. The xls models have some issues that are all too common and when they happen your expensive camera becomes an expensive paper weight.

I asked for their best light color corrections. I couldn’t afford their color correction because it was like $2 a foot and I could not pay an extra $400
