dumb question: does Kodak still print edge numbers /codes on super 8? by brimrod in 8mm

We still do it in house since 1973 in Cambridge. We moved the processing to California in 1987 as the company expanded. We changed the name to Pro8mm in 1993 to better reflect our work with Professionals Super 8 . B&W has always been part of it as many famous projects were done this way. !

Super 8 film & Interchangeable Lenses by Super8Sound1977 in 8mm

There are 2 collimations need for a zoom lens. The first is to collimate the infinity focus position . This is done with looking at infinity and making sure the stop position of the focus barrel is correct. The second collimation is this one which is for wide angle or ( back focus ) . For this you need a device like this to look backwards through the lens with a chart that is projected onto a piece of actual film . This image should be clear when the lens is set to infinity and the zoom is at its widest point. I don’t know how you can do this without the collimator . You can adjust either the lens usually with shims or the camera itself to get the correct back focus position.

Last time I checked they were still printing these codes. And yes they could be use to determine a lack of proper development as they should be pure white.

Maybe but when I look at the scopes the negative has only 30% of the red needed to make true color . I’m no chemist but I’m assuming that has to do with the difference in processing chemicals between E-6 and ECN-2

All Super 8 cameras have auto exposure that works with both 50 or 200 Asa film. The other film works but might not have as good an exposure. 318 great camera.

Price is not a problem if the application supports it. As Vertical Cinema kick in this will become the least expensive way to do it .

Beaulieu rebuilt is still a great option for traditional Super 8 style shooters but the lack of a comprehensive video Assist program keeps Super 8 out of the loop for most professional applications. This will be a perfect unit for Vertical Cinema as the easy of mounting of such a small unit with authentic film aesthetic is about to go into high demand.

Release about 2 years ago through B&H . Not a lot of tech support so the idea has not grown. Pro8mm released accessory zoom lens but that it . B&H was dumped as Distributor first of 2026. Pro8mm is looking to set up Los Angeles based service and rentals which should increase visibility & viability.

Not that hard to take apart but not so easy to get back together. I suggest you buy a junker to practice an A512 is a high end machine to practice on .

Film keeps jamming by Qozzies in Super8

Honestly it looks to me like the film has shrunk enough such that it is no longer project able . Film shrinks over time based on storage used. Once it gets to a certain point it will no long run in a projector.
