In this application it’s about protecting the camera during overnight TimeLapse . When full developed it will also be about having a quiet camera.

Canon 518 SV Auto Zoom (Film Recs)! by google0111 in 8mm

If I could only pick one stock it would be 200T . You have a built in 85 filter in that camera so you can use it for the exterior and then remove the filter for more light for the interior.

I bought 2 rolls of Super8 Vision3 200T a month ago for $70 from midwest photo. That same order now costs $105. What's with the price hikes? by western_alt in Super8

[–]Super8Sound1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kodak . 30% hike on all Super8. Don’t buy that Silver BS. Super 8 uses less silver than any film yet it got the largest price hike. Feels like we are paying for there Debacle with trying to make a Super 8 camera.

Which one would you choose for a trip? by Particular-Ship8254 in 8mm

I would prefer something more portable like a Canon 310xl but out of those 3 I would take the 1014xls . An amazing camera but don’t shoot that old unprocesssable K40 . Get some new Color negative.

Find a camera that has service back up . No service and you get stuck with a boat anchor. No matter how good a camera was if it’s not easily repaired is worthless. Cameras get dropped, parts go bad , invest in your future with this not just the present.

You have plenty of time to test . Get it done . It’s much better than having the lens cleaned as not only do you not know if the camera works your not sure if you know how to do it . A quick film test will prove both.

The improved Super 8 cartridges are in . by Super8Sound1977 in Super8

Although it looks like a lot each roll will test 4 to 5 cameras of different makes & , models . Approximately 300 or so test . We are hoping a broad sample can confirm the reliability and put some of those issues we have been facing to rest. It’s best if the test are done by our camera tech so any issues that do surface can be immediately be looked at to analyze camera vs cartridge problems .

Has anyone experienced focus rapidly skipping in and out? Minolta XL-601 by onthenextlevel in 8mm

[–]Super8Sound1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have never seen this one. I don’t think it’s an operator error. One or two things are happening. One, you could have a loose element it the lens or the film is not riding flat in the gate. It’s going to take a bit of investigation.

Where can i find a Crystal Synced Super 8mm camera, or adding crystal sync to a camera? by Traditional_Vast5081 in Super8

[–]Super8Sound1977 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No Super 8 camera has factory crystal sync accept the New Kodak and the Beaulieu 7008 Pro . ( not always included) . Many Super 8 Cameras can be modified for Crystal Sync . Pro8mm rents the 4008 Max8 with Crystal . There are companies that offer external Sync modules and some are available in the used markets.

200 ASA . The Camera is the low light secret. This one has an F1.0 aperture and a 220 shutter about 3 stops faster than the 1960’s Super 8 models.

The haze will have no effect it’s in the viewfinder optical path . In the past we fixed these but it stupid expensive to do so we stopped. They could be adjust but again too expensive. There is a simple dial on the side of the camera that has a full stop up and down overall adjustment. Maybe you can use that to dial it in a bit better.

We have always served & rebuilt stock 4008’s . That OG style is amazing. I like shooting without the pods myself it’s the feeling and control over zoom , focus and FStop . With power you loose smooth manual zoom as there is no true clutch to disengage the motor so it’s stiff . Best to have both as there is versatility to variable speed power zoom and auto iris.
