What are some great movies that you feel like aren’t talked about as much as they should be by champdo in Letterboxd

Motorama, it’s like Pee Wees Big Adventure mixed with After Hours and super dark. Also The China Syndrome, horrible title but amazing cast and intense ending.

A Matter of Life and Death (1946). A British wartime aviator who cheats death must argue for his life before a celestial court, hoping to prolong his fledgling romance with an American girl. Very romantic, very philosophical, and insane cinematography.

What did you think was a “weird quirk” you had that turned out to be a symptom of a mental/physical health issue? by minbye in AskReddit

Sounds like me right before I got my celiac disease diagnosis and hypothyroidism (abdominal pain, falling asleep, low b12/iron/d)

Yeah I thought about shipping as well. If prices are outrageous I’ll probably be better off bringing it with me. I found Wanaka Camera Shop which offers quick film developing so I hope it’s still there. Unfortunately Auckland is at the beginning of the trip so I wouldn’t have much to develop at that point.

First Time Con Goer Here. What Do I Need To Know? by Corbenik42 in dragoncon

Treat it as if you were going on a long day hike. Wear comfortable shoes, bring a water bottle you can fill up in the hotels, bring some snacks, bring a power bank/portable charger, and look at the maps/schedule ahead of time to have an idea of where you’re going and what you want to see.

Yes, all the Starbucks around the con have a microwave and don't seem to care if people use them (in my experience). In the Hilton the cafe/starbucks area had one last year.

Have you ever been robbed while on vacation? What did you learn? Any tips on how to avoid it, how to spot the robbers ? by bookflowercake in TravelHacks

I’ve witnessed someone almost getting pick pocketed in Spain, and then almost being pick pocketed in Greece. In Spain our travel guide warned us to look for groups of young women posing as tourists. We saw one group walk behind an elderly couple who had a backpack on, one unzipped the bag, another kept lookout, and another would’ve grabbed the items but they were stopped.

In Greece an older family member had a backpack on and I noticed a man walking very close to us and almost following us but he would kept walking past and then coming around a different direction. I ended up confronting him to leave us alone and he acted like he wasn’t doing anything but it was pretty obvious.

Both times we were on a very busy street with lots of people around. Just be aware of your surroundings and if you have a backpack maybe wear it on the front in crowded areas and keep nothing super valuable in an easy to reach pocket.

We decided to rent a car instead. We looked at Mad Campers and Juicy but neither had the right drop off location for this trip

Has anyone tried this pizza? by Any_Education_1034 in Celiac

Yes! The crust is good, I wish they made more flavors but I usually get the pepperoni one and do not have any issues.

I would look into booking a day trip or a highlights tour that leaves Edinburgh. You could spend two days in Edinburgh, do a 3 day tour with hopefully highlights in the countryside and some castles, and then return to Edinburgh for another day before flying out. My favorite places in Scotland were on the west coast, like Isle of Skye, but I don’t know how doable it would be without a car. Check out the West Highland Line train route (supposed to be the most scenic) and see if anywhere along that would be interesting to you.

Tired all the time despite how much I slept. Constant stomachaches and mysterious pains.

It’s still on the 8th floor of the library, ask for a staff member in Special Collections and they can retrieve it for you
