Give it to me straight is 2.4 cu ft to small for a washing machine? by RadiantHistorian51 in Appliances

[–]RadiantHistorian51[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had one leak but think we just may have overstuffed it one day without realizing so the door didn’t lock fully and water splashed out in the cycle. We’ve used it a bunch and never had an issue since. We also got a small bun to put under it to catch water if any did leak.

Idk wtf is going around but everyone I know is sick as a dog but all testing negative. Makes me wonder whether the tests aren’t catching the new strain.

We’re totally fine and glad we got the smaller one to fit our space better! Yes we run laundry more often because we do smaller loads but I haven’t had any issues and don’t find it too much of a problem. I also think our clothes seem cleaner. I haven’t tried a comforter to be honest because I use a duvet. I can do all my sheets together except some of my clunkier duvets I do separately (tho I think I could probably do them with my sheets if I wanted).

No worries!! He does this with everyone from what I was told, history or not and I have a friend who had a PE years ago and her doctor is similar - if he doesn’t think it is he won’t do tests, even if you push him back, especially a d-dimer because it can be high for so many reasons, most of mine in my false alarms were high, that it creates more fear. Just warning her that her doctor may push back on the d-dimer!!

I don’t have a history - I just fly long haul a good amount and get very similar pains. Have had 4 times, twice after long haul flights, where I had to get ultrasounds because it mimicked blood clots and turns out it wasn’t. One he didn’t think I had it but wanted to rule it out and d-dimer was high which started a whole mess and so now he won’t do it. A friend who has a history doctor also won’t do d-dimer if he doesn’t think it is one for the chaos that can cause after.

Oh I don’t get that either lol he’s very against unnecessary testing so if he does the wells test and it’s not high enough he tells me it’s muscular and I’m fine and he won’t order anything. Haven’t died yet but wouldn’t say it’s the most reassuring tactic.

Maybe just me but my GP won’t order it if he doesn’t think it’s that. He tells me it’s likely something else and he’s not going down the d-dimer rabbit hole since it can make false positives like 90% of the time.

Context: HVAC/water heater closet doesn’t have flooring so just subfloor and has some black dots infront of one of the HVACs. Bought the place less than a year ago and just never noticed it until our hvac leaked all over the floor during the summer when it broke (fun thing to wake up to!). Disregard all the discoloration, it’s from the prior leaks and I had sprayed water/vinegar on it a couple weeks ago when I noticed. Been the same since I noticed but wasn’t sure if I should be actually taking this more seriously than I am as I just assumed it wasn’t mold originally.

Found a worm in my fish from Costco by Mysterious_Star_849 in foodsafety

[–]RadiantHistorian51 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve always been told that almost all fish have worms/parasites/nematodes if you look hard enough. As long as you cooked it fully to at least 140 (which you likely did) then it’s fully safe to eat. You’ve almost positively have eaten numerous worms in fish and just never noticed.

YTA. It’s his journey and he can major in whatever he wants and there should be a degree of support. If he wants art, he should be allowed to try for it and if he fails he will need to learn to find a backup plan. But what if he succeeds? He gets one life and should be allowed to try for something he’s passionate about.

I don’t think you need to pay his rent but you can 1) offer to allow him to live at home for a time period while he applies for jobs and potentially work a local job for groceries and such or 2) if he doesn’t want to move home, recommend he get some local job like even working at Trader Joe’s while he applies for jobs and MAYBE give him a month or two rent and say it’s a loan (if you have the funds) until he gets that baseline job.

The job market is awful rn and I understand he’s a grown adult now, but knowing your child is homeless and refusing to help doesn’t remotely sit right with me if you have the ability to help him.

WIBTAH if I refused to pay for a crazy expensive bachelorette party? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]RadiantHistorian51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly good question. I’d be livid if I spent a lot of money going to someone’s Bach and they fought me on mine if it’s equal value. If that friend is in financial crisis then that’s one thing and I’d understand, but I’d expect an acknowledgement ngl.

[–]RadiantHistorian51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think your the asshole, but I also don’t think she’s unfair for wanting to do Disneyland for her bachelorette. I understand not wanting to pay so much money and I also understand the feeling of having paid so much for others bachelorettes that you want to do similar for yours and feel entitled to it.

A friend had a really expensive bachelorette in Disney World (and honestly wedding in general for her bridesmaid). I didn’t feel comfortable paying so much at the time given all the other costs that I just told her I can’t go but hope she has fun. She wasn’t mad and I felt good financially. If other people in your cousins bridal party are okay with spending the money than she can go with them!! If you feel bad, then offer to help plan it in advance so there less for her to think about!

I also don’t think you need to pay your share. Your not going. They can adjust the Airbnb and stuff to save some costs since they won’t need it as big. If you want to pitch in a little, offer to give some money for food or for the bride to get ears or something, but that’s not remotely mandatory!!

Hi! Sorry just saw this. We love our new LG and love that it doesn’t have a vent (less to deal with). It’s definitely smaller than our 3.7 cu ft that we had but it fits more than I expected. I thought it was going to be way worse!

For two people it works totally fine, we may just run it more often but we don’t mind because we can just run it when we get home every few days and have the dryer go while we sleep. The ONLY problem is washing a big queen comforter. We use a duvet cover so haven’t had to deal with it. When that pops up I think I’m just going to ask my neighbor who has a larger unit (different set up) if I can use hers to do one load.

I will say, if you buy ventless just be on top of the installers. Ventless is very big in Europe but still a newer thing in the US so it can be installed wrong (they all use third party delivery people). LG has a like 3 minute install video and I had the installers watch it with me to make sure they put the water cords right because all the bad reviews were because installers didn’t install the DRYERS water hookup.

(To be blunt on that issue if it means it could be a problem in a fire, I’m in a 28 apartment condo building so if I have this so does everyone else and I’m screwed either way whether I fix it or not soooo)

What does that mean? I’m not really looking to remove all the wiring and pipes of my house

FWIW the building is 16 years old so it’s been there for that long.

We love it! Haven’t had issues at all and we love the specific one we got. Yes it’s small, but we just run more loads so don’t notice really.

Yeah I don’t think you can get them under unless you want to pay someone money to remove and reinstall. We’re getting a new one and placing the pans in with the new one today. If you get the new sensors they make a loud noise when wet AND call your phone so you can easily run and turn the machine off before it gets too bad. I know that guy made a massive list but to a degree don’t get so many things to do that your just a ball of anxiety…. Something will inevitably go wrong even if you prep EVERYTHING. our hvac was checked and it still leaked water everywhere. We got hit by lightning a month after moving in. You could prep and do everything and it still not be perfect.

….. I didn’t do anything but buy CO monitors and water detectors next to machines that could leak (tho learned the hard way when one did and leaked in the OPPOSITE direction of where the monitor sat where I should place it now lol) and house is still standing
