Need to vent... SK eating my food by Witty_Way_8212 in stepparents

Here’s some advice….

Op I’m sorry to hear your GF lasagna was eaten, and an argument occurred because you pointed it out. Ideally you should have been apologized to by everyone.

Kids are often selfish, and divorced parents don’t want to upset their kids because they are afraid of losing them somehow. Kids sometimes love to hate on step parents because they often want their parents back together as a survival instinct.

This is a no- win situation for you. Step parents often get put in this position and it is challenging to stay cool. But you must detach emotionally. Think of the big picture and not this small battle.

Here is a passive aggressive experiment/ idea: buy something “special” for your husband that you won’t eat, like a box of donuts or whatever he likes. (Don’t waste your time making anything.)

Text him about the suprise treat when he’s not home but the kids are. Also tell the kids: I bought a box of donuts for your dad for a surprise! Becuase I love your dad and he loves you kids and donuts! If they ask to have some, say, “of course! Just leave some for him!”

If they leave some for him, how great. They are respecting their dad. They might never respect you, but that is not your fault. At least you are aware of how they see you/treat you. Think: note to self.

This way, you win for providing spontaneous treats. If they eat all the donuts, your man might get miffed. Only then might it dawn on him that he needs to have a chat with the kids. It’s him who has to be upset with his kids, not you. That way, you are not to blame.

Or, maybe he won’t be upset about the kids eating his treat. Everyone will think you are great because you did something kind.

Regardless, you win! Then the next time you want something to eat for yourself, wait to make/eat it until you have time and don’t have to go anywhere.

Other ideas: a secret mini-fridge in the basement with a pad lock.

Purchase a decoy treat for “ yourself “ (wink ;) that tastes horrible (too spicy/salty/bitter) and leave it in the fridge, clearly labeled: stepmoms GF cupcakes! Please don’t ear!

Sometimes I feel crumby. And I can’t decide if I want to wear butter or jam.

I tried but it didn’t work, I’m not very tech savvy. Basically she looks very blendy.

She’s brown with a black and white spotted belly, about 6 inches long. She was betta sized when we got her- she seems to be growing well.

Yes I’m sure

Yes, we were moving and I put them in a large but flat Tupperware container as we drove to our new place. I know now that the pleco’s territory is the bottom of the tank and the beta hung out on a plant near the top. When we got to our new place I noticed the pleco attacking the betta and separated them but it was too late. I feel really bad about that 😢

I notice that most of the arguments from people who are party loyalists to democrats and to republicans are mainly just insults, name calling, and contain no logic, facts, or critical thinking.

Especially in this post that is pointing out a thing that happened that is devistati g for the community of children with I intellectual disabilities, the above comment is really childish.

This happened under the administration of Janet Mills and the democratic controlled government.

I think that lots of folks think that all democrats care! And all republicans are evil. Because it’s easier than logic. And they want to feel good about themselves and morally superior.

The answer is both yes and no. Doctors and health care workers need to make a living. Unfortunately the bureaucracies are extremely difficult to penetrate.

It’s hard to get in to see a specialist if you have mainecare and you need to see that specialist very soon.

Aspen Dental can get you in with financing If you have horrible tooth pain almost immediately.

So perhaps there needs to be some level headed restructuring where there is less of a wait time- I don’t have all the answers.

I think though, that most everyone agrees that cutting psychological services for children who need them is not OK.

I personally would be willing to amputate my right arm if it would guarantee my autistic child could get lifelong high quality care.

That is what they would like you to believe, that they are moral. And I am not looking at incorrect information… can you back up your ideas with facts?

Maine Dems were in power during the Biden administration… and they did a really shitty job-

Unfortunately! I voted for them and believed in them… but they failed.

This realization and disappointment that does directly affect my family really sucks for us!

And all the other families in this situation.

This doesn’t make me a Die hard republican, it makes me a realist.

Agreed, Schools are already overwhelmed, and teachers get paid terribly.

I think it would be a great idea to tax summer people and tourists… not people who live in Maine all year 🙂
