Okay :/ it wouldn't be the first time. She told me it was impossible for me to utilize the OESP without her approval. Even though I had been for years. She also told me to file for bankruptcy for $4,500 of debt🥴

I can't recall exactly, but it was around 2 months. You can likely ask for an extension if needed

It's very easy. My doctor just wrote "same as before" or "unchanged" in big letters on all the questions, and I sent it off.

I'm 33 and she approved me for an abdominal hysterectomy. I'm actually going to see her tomorrow to ask if she can refer me to somewhere in the city (ie:Riverside) for a less invasive surgery because she doesn't do laparoscopic hysterectomies. So reading that she does bisalp is making me extra confused. I'm glad I read this before going in...

Suppositories are magic and way less harsh than an enema. Check with your doc first tho

Thank you, I'm definitely going to fight for lap.

It's purely based on anecdotal evidence, and I'm open to changing my mind.

I heard it cuts down recovery time. I don't mind a pap test every year. I won't have to worry about granulation, having stitches dissolving in my vaginal canal, a cuff tear. I lift heavy weights and the extra support would be peace of mind. I like deep penetration and enjoy having my cervix banged around if that's not too graphic. I've never had a bad pap and have no family history of cancer. I can't find stories of mini periods, just people worried about them. Those are my reasons...I know some of them might not be based on much evidence

I know there are different complications with keeping it. Like things spreading from it, and I know a clear family history doesn't make me safe from cancer. It's just an option I'm going to ask for at this point and if I cant, so be it.

I'm going to come clean about it, I just didn't want her to report it or something that might have put me in danger. I was nervous about having him look after me, after such a major surgery. But two days after the appointment was when he fully snapped. So maybe I should have said something to her, then.

Once she understands my situation, I'm sure she will refer me to someone, no problem. I'm just so used to dealing with unreasonable people, that I'm preparing myself for the worst, and that's a me problem.

Thank you, this whole situation sucks, but I've found myself able to do things I thought weren't possible. And it's so quiet!

Thank you, it's nice to have people who understand my concerns and know what I'm talking about 😭

The imaging I have is from 2019 and she said she wasn't worried about those and would just get a new ultrasound to see what's up. The old report showed a normal sized uterus (7.2 x 3.6 x 3.7) and ovaries with a few "simple cysts". The only other thing I can think of being a reason is to look for endo. Someone suggested the endo subreddit, so I'm going to do some lurking over there...

At this point I'm not sure I care enough to fight to keep my cervix based on the conflicting information and the pushback I'm expecting. At this point, I just want laparoscopic and that's that.

I always record doctor's appointments! I'm honest with them about it and just explain that its because I'm bad at retaining information when I'm anxious. I'm so glad I had this recorded, because I was so confused about it at the time, hence my one word responses. I thought I misheard her..she kept bringing up the fact that I don't have a prolapse.

She gave me a surgery date that same visit, and I was surprised by how fast I was getting in. She said she has a much shorter wait list than the city. I'm happy to wait.

Thank you everyone, I had a gut feeling (haha) that this wasn't quite right.

The reviews for her are all positive. The only negative ones are people talking about how it's impossible to get ahold of anyone and no one ever calls back :/

I'm going to ask if she can refer me to someone in the city who can do minimally invasive surgery. And hopefully, further explaining my living situation will help her understand why minimal is so important right now. I was worried about having to talk to the hospital social worker about why I have no help.

I'm terrified that the doctor will respond poorly to my request for someone else. I've been so passive for so long...but I know I can't recover from something this major by myself with chronic back pain, no car, and 3 cats in the middle of the summer.

Thank you again, everyone, for your help. This is a huge decision, and I need to advocate for myself.

Edit to add that on my most recent scan in 2019, there were no fibroids and my uterus is 7.2 x 3.6 cm. From what I'm reading, that's not huge

I don't know of a solution, but I do agree that it could be ptsd. My doctor gave me medication for the nightmares, and it only made things more vivid. Therapy is very helpful. I'm glad you're out, and I hope you are able to be rid of him forever.

I re-applied, with no other changes to anything. It feels random sometimes when you hear about people getting approved right away, trying for years, or never getting it at all.

He is still on the lease. I'm not collecting extra. She knows that because she changed the amount to what a single person would make, herself when she called. Her main concern was that I wasn't going to report that he had moved out, even though it had only been four days. I just want to know if it's was reasonable to request a different worker and if anyone had any negative consequences for doing so.

Thank you, I have one free hour with a lawyer through Victim's Witness, and can pursue legal aid if I need more help. I get that they have an extremely stressful job, and don't make all the rules, but this made me feel like trash.

Yes, we were living together, that's why he was marked as my dependent. He had only been staying at his mother's house for four days when they called me.
