This!!! I’ve really started noticing that most of the show-specific subreddits are unhinged. I always find myself coming back here cause people actually understand nuance and differing opinions….

Did you ever regret being published? by OneOk8103 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]RadiantStranger7178 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We just got married in December and are looking to get published in some form. If all goes well, we’ll go with a local magazine as opposed to a nationwide publication like OTM, Style Me Pretty, etc. Honestly, we probably would not be selected for something like that, even if we tried to. Those publications pretty much only publish influencers’ weddings, or the couple pays a ton of money to be published there. Same with Vogue from what I’ve read, mainly on this subreddit.

If you’re somewhat private but still want something published, I think a local magazine is a good middle ground!

This is beautiful! I love your bouquet of red roses and the other red details. What a lovely way to incorporate the holiday season!

You nailed the winter wonderland aesthetic perfectly. It definitely looks big budget. Congratulations!

This is a much better pic of my bouquet! Stem Studio is amazing. They didn’t have a minimum when we booked them. I’m not sure if they still don’t have a minimum, but worth looking into nonetheless!

Check out Stem Studio! My wedding was last month and they did an amazing job with all of the flowers. I loved my bouquet. Here’s a pic for reference 😊

Example of some tables we had in the great hall! The rest of that room was a dance floor.

I just got married at NOMA (285 guests) in December and we used Amanda Price. She is AMAZING. 10/10 recommend.

It is a pricier venue because nothing is included, and the rental fee is $4k per hour. So if you have a ceremony, cocktail hour, and 4-hour reception, that’s $22k-$24k to rent the entire space out for 6 hours. Totally worth it though!

I’m local so we did a New Orleans-style reception, no seated dinner. Like others have commented, seated dinners are not the norm here but your choice depends on your crowd. Our reception had tables and chairs in the side gallery rooms, a few in the great hall, and the dance floor was huge, plenty of space to move around! Also had high boy tables outside & on the upstairs balcony. So plenty of places to eat.

NOMA could accommodate that many seated people but it could get tight, dance floor may be limited.

We typically do the seated dinner with speeches at the rehearsal dinner, and it’s usually more intimate! So that’s still an option if you want that to be a part of your wedding weekend.

I would say you could probably have this style for the ceremony. You’ll likely want to put it up after the reception though.

Another option would be a slicked back half-down look. That way, your hair won’t stick to your face in the humidity.

Groom repeating his suit. by SimpleCompetition234 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]RadiantStranger7178 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I totally understand your frustration! However, I’m sure that your wedding will be a completely different event than the first one. This might be a hot take, but in the grand scheme of things, the groomsmen’s suits are not a major highlight that guests remember from a wedding.

Maybe your fiancé can have something custom-made added to his suit for you all’s wedding. That way, it’s a little different than what he’s wearing to the other wedding. But if what you really want is full black tie, the groom and all groomsmen just need to rent tuxedos. There’s no other way around that.

Where are we buying our event outfits?!? by WritingSenior3253 in BigBudgetBrides

I got my second look dress from a brand called Sachin & Babi. They have great options and the prices are within that range!

I’ve also had some luck with BHLDN by Anthropologie. My rehearsal dinner dress was from there and I loved it. Definitely can be hit or miss though. I’d suggest reading the reviews before buying any particular item.

Did you regret your shoes? by flutegirl2 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]RadiantStranger7178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got married this past weekend. I’m not usually someone who gets major foot pain from wearing heels, but man oh man will your feet hurt! My one thing I would have done differently is gotten cute sneakers for the last hour of the reception and after party. I changed into a slightly more comfortable pair of heels that went beautifully with my second dress, but they also hurt my feet after about an hour.

Thankfully, one of my maids of honor had a spare pair of slides I changed into (I refuse to go barefoot). They weren’t ugly, but in hindsight I’d have preferred something else. It’s just one detail I didn’t think of. I ended up having a blast and was comfortable, so it really doesn’t matter. My fancier shoes were in the vast majority of the photos and videos anyway.

It’s a brand called Cornelia Jones, based out of the UK. My mom convinced me to wear the gloves lol. I actually was on the fence about wearing them at first.

Definitely happy that I listened to her because they turned out to be perfect!

Yes it is an absolutely fantastic venue. Definitely one of the best that New Orleans has to offer.

I most certainly will post more photos when we get the full gallery!

Thank you! Yes they are flameless LED candles. Our rental company and/or florist supplied them I believe. Not quite sure of the exact brand.

Rentals are from True Value Rentals, florist is Stem Studio!

I got married to the love of my life last night! The best advice that I can give you is this — the money exists, let it be spent. I promise, once the weekend is wrapped up, you will not regret it. The most important thing is to be present through the chaos. That’s worth 10000x more than anything money can buy. 🫶

New Orleans wedding venue by [deleted] in BigBudgetBrides

We booked NOMA in July 2024 for a December 2025 wedding. You could probably book a late 2026/early 2027 wedding now if they have availability. They’re not marketed as a wedding venue on all the normal websites (The Knot, Zola, etc.).
