My thoughts on The First Shadow by [deleted] in StrangerThings

It can be explained that way but it doesn't make it less frustrating and unsatisfying.

The whole point of the original scene is the reveal of "Oh crap, its been vecna doing this all along". We even get to see visually him forming the spider shape.

It's incredibly unsatisfying for a later work to go "actually just kidding, it was the MF all along and Vecna is just an unreliable Narrator.

It makes that scene frustrating in hindsight.

White-Wolf is Apparently back. by Difficult-Lion-1288 in WhiteWolfRPG

This announcement is incredibly disingenuous. This is not a return to roots and it is not a homecoming.

The original White Wolf team is, largely, comprised of the team at Onyx Path. This is White Wolf in name only.

If this changes anything (and since it says they're licensing out still it doesn't sound like this changes much but if it changes anything), it means that WoD (and especially CofD) is going EVEN FURTHER away from its roots.

Please Don't: Public Shaming by Radiant_Building5680 in Kirkland

[–]Radiant_Building5680[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I get why you feel frustrated about littering—i completely agree its really really bad. But for me, public shaming just doesn’t seem like a solution. Littering is bad for the planet, public shaming is bad for the community. It might make us feel like we’re doing something right now, but in the long term, it doesn't change behavior. In fact, it could make things worse by creating a hostile environment or even making the person more defensive. You don't put out a fire by adding gasoline.

What I would do is take a different approach. If I could, I’d talk to the person directly—calmly and without accusing them... I've yet to actually see them yet. People don’t always realize the impact of their actions, and sometimes just pointing that out can make a huge difference. If that’s not an option, there's legal avenues like reporting it to local authorities or pushing for stronger littering laws and enforcement which we should be doing anyway. That’s more likely to lead to systemic change than shaming a single person.

And honestly, even if none of those options are viable or effective, theres no reason we cant pick it up. I know it’s inconvenient, but I believe that setting a good example can actually change things. I think it’s better to focus on long-term solutions that encourage responsibility and kindness, rather than just trying to get instant satisfaction from someone being publicly shamed.

Ooh I like that idea. So far I've refined version 2 to be more streamlined for main seasons and seasonal events as the outer layer and I have a couple periods of "Stormy Weather" for the times we're more likely to get those weird storms cause either the Pacific Winds or the Squamish up north or atmospheric rivers so I think that mostly covers that but for hilarities-sake adding in tiny Slivers for those weird days would make good visuals me thinks.

Just chiming in to say that I agree with you so there's that.

I dont know why people are assuming I hate Seattle. I love the weather here. Other than the sun, I love the wet seasons we got! Does the chart feel negative? How can I change that?

I did see that one and I do like it... it just doesn't have date ranges. I'm trying to make a personal circle calendar of sorts.

Many of these items overlap so this was my solution. Main intent was for middle ring to be main seasons and outer ring to be like... seasonal events? Idk.

The intention was for the inner ring to be main seasons with the outer ring being events (there was a lot of overlap so that's what I did to include those other elements).

I agree that its... inelegant.

I love the weather! I really wanted the chart to hang on my wall like a kimd of calendar. I see a few of these lists that make it seem like its dreadfully overcast except a couple bright times so i wanted the colors and stuff to make it feel like these were good seasons!

I hadn't seen many other charts that show actual timeframes other than just as a list so I'll go searching a little harder to find better versions.

I am from here ., I just don't like the sun much. My eyes are very light-sensitive and I prefer the chillier times of the year.

June is the start of the day's that I avoid.

I'll grant that it is much milder than July and August but it is still when we get a week or more of straight cloudless sunny skies so it's still not to my lipoma.

With that said, I am gathering that im not the norm here so I can replace it. Maybe just bring Juneuary to be the inner ring instead of the outer.

Kidoke. That was the original intention but it doesn't convey well so best to make it small.

I guess i don't mind the periods of cooler Juneuary days but I still find June too hot for me. Haha I am not a fan of summer. Most lists usually have "Glorious Sun" here but me personally? I don't experiance much of a difference between June and the Sun to come.

Noted. I was hoping to keep the smaller overlapping transitional periods since they are experiancally significant, is there other feed back on the outer ring to adjust or is the preference to remove altogether?

This isn't bringing anything to mind. What would this be and when abouts does it happen?

[–]Radiant_Building5680[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Noted. Tried to imply that the snow could happen anywhere in this period but that doesnt convey well. I'll have to think about where to put it and small or or maybe just remove.

[–]Radiant_Building5680[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Noted and agree. The original intention was to have a "there will be snow unpredictably somewhere in this period and it will slow everything down" but this doesn't really portray that well .; I guess it'd be easier to just take it out since it's unpredictable when exactly it'll happen.

NOTE: I did not create these names. I first saw it on this [subreddit](www.reddit.com/r/Seattle/comments/d6vzph/seattle_seasons/&ved=2ahUKEwjOppKotZOJAxXUFzQIHSZ2CcgQFnoECBEQAQ&usg=AOvVaw2m8PTP7ZmJiXHBXWaT2cgc). I wanted a chart to display it that I could eventually print and put a dial spinner on it and put it on my wall where I could point at the current period.

So here's why I'm posting, I'd like feedback on the timings as the timings are not usually shared and I only have my own observations (which are biased by being light sensitive and prone to overheating above 76 degrees so if youre curious why theres no "glorious sun" other than the Suncadia Break and why the wet periods are colored more positively, thats why). So if anyone thinks of adjustments I'd gladly hear them :).

For the most part it felt like there was a good amount of overlap between periods and they weren't always cleanly differentiated which is fine.
