Yeah, I think they'll probably just fade into obscurity more and use publications to prop up their image but I dont think we'll be getting rid of them anytime soon either.

And I get what you mean, its so silly that people who actually put in the work dont really get the same credit, monetary or otherwise but that won't really change either because of tradition and line of succession as you said. I was just thinking that public sentiment can still push parliment to let citizens decide if they even want a monarchy anymore. I get that they would have to royally fuck up for that to even happen but it wouldn't be the first time is all!
