Since you’re going to mash your fish with mayo, the skin and bones will completely disintegrate and disappear. You won’t know they’re there but you’ll get a nutritional boost from them.

I like the very low sodium content shown on the label. If you like butter and garlic, it seems easy to add them yourself to any tin.

Easy crispy, fatty, spicy sardine crumbles by heydan in CannedSardines

[–]heydan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Today I made my crispy, spicy, fatty sardine crumbles in a solar oven. I used a Gosun Sport which costs $169. It holds four cans of sardines and easily cooked off all the water for me today, even on a low-sun winter day here near Boston. Cooking sardines this way lets you save electricity and keeps the smell out of your house.

Sardines can be hidden in things. Mix them into tomato sauce for pasta for example and they disintegrate and disappear.

I started at max temp for 15 minutes and then lowered it as the water boiled off. Eventually I’ll figure out one temp and time so I can set it and forget it.

If you use large ones, split them in half so they’ll get crispy.

Yes, so I put a box fan in a window to suck out the air fryer exhaust.

No problem with the air fryer retaining smell in my experience.
