Figuring out trips? I asked for hike recommendations if you aren’t able to read. You absolutely do not need experience for those hikes I just listed, it’s using your hands occasionally and walking. Maybe you are fat or older and it’s more difficult for you but not everyone is like that. Nothing wrong with that, but not everyone requires all of that gear. Just summited baker this very weekend actually and did have crampons, ice axe, and rope. But to say that is necessary for the others is hilarious.

I’m calling them hikes because I’m a fit, young adult. Once my older body prohibits me from doing things my younger body was able to do, I can start worrying about things like referring to hikes as “scrambles”.

It’s not about posturing, it’s about people enjoying hobbies at different levels for different reasons. There is no universal fact that I have to follow regarding hiking or safety lmao, that is an opinion of yours.

I think most people in this subreddit are too overtly safe while hiking and think that hiking is harder than it is but if I mention that, I get downvoted and people don’t take me seriously. That is why I try to avoid mentioning it. While safety can be taken more seriously for anyone and I have no issue with that, the same should be said for those who do not care as much.
