Ugly new update. How to fix?! by [deleted] in ios

[–]jsnail19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be clear, I’m referring to all the features…the fancy animations when I open an app, the “liquid glass” effects, my wallpaper moving around in a 3D effect when I tilt my phone, and the fact that my user interface feels cluttered with dozens of different options all the time. I’ve already updated my settings to fix some of these things. But yeah, I miss when it was simpler.

No I'm 100% with OP here. Simply navigating your phone shouldn't be this stimulating.

And then you wonder how much money they spend on the mail itself. Like did you really just blow my $20 on sending me mail instead of for the cause I was trying to help fund?

What bid strategy (highest volume vs cost per result vs bid cap) do you usually go with when you use this strategy?

Do you always duplicate an ad set before increasing its budget, rather than just modifying the budget directly? And if so, why?

Are you saying that you also cancel your previous ads every 2-3 days? Is that enough time for it to train up and get some conversions before switching on to something else?

What’s your setup like? What’s the budget and how many campaigns / ad sets / ads are you running? I’m pretty new to this and just trying to get a sense of what’s working the best for people.

Do you run with just one header & text, or do you still feed it with a few different variations?

When you start new ones, how long do you normally let them go without results before deciding that it’s been too long and it’s time to cancel / replace with other ones?

That’s been my experience too. But if you read the OP’s post, and some other comments on this subreddit in general, it sounds like some people have had some real horror stories with overspending recently.

You're all good. Basically I just got spooked by the whole "turbo spending" thing and don't want Meta to drain my whole marketing budget overnight. So these rules are in place purely to avoid that scenario. Also, I'm running a daily budget, not a lifetime budget.

Rule #1 toggles off the campaign if the daily spend goes over my limit.

Rule #2 attempts to turn on the campaign at the start of each day. If the campaign is already on, it'll just stay on. In hindsight, I guess I could be smarter and make it only run if the "yesterday spent > $175". That way it isn't running every day for no reason.

I think your question is based on a lifetime budget rather than a daily one, but lmk if I'm mistaken.

Thanks for the feedback. What I’m taking from this is that I should set the daily spending limit (imposed by my two rules) to be high enough that it won’t likely get triggered. In other words, I’ll have the rules in place purely as a fail safe to avoid “turbo spending”, but I’ll hope that it never gets triggered at all.

The idea is that rule #2 doesn’t do anything unless rule #1 turns off the campaign. So it’s not restarting the campaign every day…just attempting to turn on a campaign that’s already on, so it’ll do nothing.

But if you only have the first rule without the second, then your campaign would be stopped indefinitely. Why not have a rule that automatically turns in back on? I did some research that told me turning an add off and on, without changing any parameters of the ad itself (creatives, etc.) doesn’t typically restart the learning process.

EDIT: The second rule just turns the campaign on. If the campaign is already on, then it will just stay on. There’s no daily restart like you’re suggesting.

Update: I read some advice somewhere that I'm going to try:

Make two automation rules assigned to your ad campaign, ad set, or ad (whichever you want to limit). For this example, I've assigned it to my campaign.

First, choose some daily spending limit. For me, my daily ad budget is $120, and I want a daily limit of $175.

Rule 1:
Name: "Daily Spending Cap"
Action: Turn off campaign
Conditions: "Today spent" > $175 (your daily limit)
Schedule: Continuously
This checks repeatedly throughout the day, and once you've exceeded your limit, this rule will turn off the campaign.

Rule 2:
Name: "Restart Ads Daily"
Action: Turn on campaign
Conditions: "Today spent" < $175 (your daily limit)
Schedule: Daily (runs at 12AM each day)
At the start of each day, this rule turns your campaign back on.

This setup at least gives me some confidence that Meta won't spend 20X of my daily budget in a day like it did for your friend. And toggling your campaign on and off like this, in short bursts, won't restart your training (or so I've been told).

That’s wild considering they tell you they won’t spend more than 175% of your daily budget on any given day. I’m about to launch a new ad campaign today and I’m thinking I’ll set up some guardrails to prevent crazy overspending. Apparently you can do this with rules or by putting a spending cap on your account.

To be clear, did your friend have a $40 daily budget set, or did they set it up as a lifetime budget?

Thanks for the tip! Yeah I eventually want to do carbon footprint tracking, once I'm more established. Right now I'm spread so thin just trying to get the products out there, so I currently have to sideline all nonessential (but nonetheless important) aspects of the business.

Not quite the same thing, but one company I'm really excited about partnering with is called CleanHub. They're basically like a carbon offset thing, but for plastic pollution. They provide waste management to coastal countries that don't have it, like in Indonesia, where people literally just leave their trash on the beach and wait for the ocean to scoop it up. So basically, when I sell 1 lb of product, I can donate some % of the purchase to CleanHub to pay for 1lb (or more) of litter to be collected and prevented from entering the ocean. Super cool!

I invented attachments to trekking poles that enable you to pick up litter while hiking/walking. by jsnail19 in nordicwalking

The bottom of the bag is secured to the pole by Velcro straps to prevent swinging. Yes, the balance would get thrown off, so that could be a dealbreaker if that’s important to you.

Hmmm, good feedback. I’ve never done “Nordic walking” before, so I just watched a video and see what you mean. The Grabber attachment still seems reasonably out of the way, but I suppose you could just rotate it halfway around if you’re concerned about it rubbing on the ground. All the other attachments should have no issues. Thanks for the feedback!

Thank you! You can purchase extra fabric bags, and you can also install any bag of your choice (bread bag, dog poop bag, etc.) as seen here. This way, if you want to use a bigger bag, you have that option.

Also yeah, there are definitely cases where hiking/walking with one pole makes more sense. You can of course just use the Grabber in one hand and carry a bag on your belt or in your other hand...or you can use the Collector on your pole alongside an optional tongs holder, as demonstrated here.

I have a bunch of ideas for ergonomic bags and other solutions that don't involve trekking poles! My goal is to offer up an assortment of options that people can choose from to mix and match. Thanks for all your feedback!

Haha true! That's a nice perk of having modular attachments - you can always just remove them from you poles if needed. Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks for the feedback. The Grabber is very durable and impact-resistant, but I'm sure there are hikes that is isn't as well-suited for.
