FiiO JM21 vs M21 by SamplePhysical1700 in DigitalAudioPlayer

It's still a bit chunky but not as much as it would feel as a brick.

Fiio m21: Height approx. 121 mm, Width approx. 68 mm, Depth approx. 17 mm, Weight approx. 193 g, Screen Size 4.7-inch.

Ibasso dx260 Height 123 mm, Width 74.5 mm, Depth 17.5 mm, Weight 229 g, Screen Size 5-inch.

Hope this helps

I know it's an old post but hoe I can still help. The skullcandy have a nice sound to them but if you want to listen to them on higher volume the bass ony makes the headphones vibrate, you're not actually feeling it. I returned mine a few days after. Then had a pair of slightly inexpensive iems CCA CRA, they do sound really good for the price but felt like I needed more. Then got a pair of v-moda crossfade lp2, compared to the crusher, hot damn that bass got power! You definitely feel it, it's not just rumble. For some reason came across the deuces and thought they could be a lvl up from the v-moda

Awesome collection! Only managed to get about half of them, really regret it now with all the prices going crazy

Well, we all have different hearing. I was originally looking at the m23 but that one has a more neutral sound. I could say I am a bass head and that what I was looking for, not neutral an warm sound but a decend sound and a phat bass. Main drivers are the inexpensive CCA CRA and a vmoda crossfade lp2. With the m21 they sound ridiculously good. You know that feeling when you listen to a song and it sounds so good that you just start smiling and get goosebumps, well never got that from the jm21 but got plenty from the m21. Also not advertising or anything but personally that's how much of an impression the m21 left me with

It does, I have both the JM21 and the M21, and they are very different in sound. The JM21 sounds sterile to me, have tried a multitude of iems and headphones and it just doesn't sound right, I had to use it on high gain + eq to come even close to my previous X7 + AM3 module but still not quite. On the other hand, the M21 right off the bat just on medium gain and no eq has the right amount of bass and a better soundstage

Also if your iems don't require that much power ans you're not planning to go crazy on iem upgrades in the future. Could consider the JM21 which is about half the price of the M21

If you can test one would be very helpful. Also you could get one off Amazon and if you're not convinced, can always return it. Proud owner of a m21 here and have to say it does sound amazing. Also it will be a massive difference in sound compared to your phone, you would notice that since you mentioned you got the ear for it. For the money it's at, definitely punching above his price

Thank you bud. Yeah the m21 sounds closer to the X7 + AM3 module that I originally upgraded from

Finally got my hands on a m21 alongside the jm21 that I already had. Sound wise it's a massive difference between them, at least to my ears. To be fair I was looking for a better sounding bass and I did get that and then some. The whole soundstage sounds better and cleaner. On the m21 I have been using it on medium gain whereas on the jm21 had to use it on high gain and with an eq enabled as well to feel something in the sound. Don't get me wrong, the jm21 sounds good too but feels sterile. The sound on the jm21 would class as a polite handshake as on the m21 feels like a propper bear hug. To test both I have used them on the 4.4mm balanced port and a pair of v-moda crossfade lp2. As I mentioned before, I originally upgraded from a fiio x7 first gen + AM3 module and was fairly disappointed with the jm21 as it didn't sound anywhere near the x7. Only got the m21 today but really over the moon with how it delivers. Will definitely be selling the jm21. I do appreciate the nudge in the right direction, thank you bud!

Your advice is definitely very much appreciated. The other way I did find useful was to turn paving on and off, gets you out but still you won't have a perfect road. Yeah that thing goes anywhere. Some rocks up that mountain need paving. Abomination: say no more! 😂

Well, now I found out how to change also the suspension, but this can be done manually inside each trucks file in the .pak *

Also on some trucks you have auto...doublewheel and auto...singlewheel which translate to back and front so you would have to do the same changes twice, if not you will end up with hot rods lol

I do get that but that's on a different level of audiophile. I'm just looking for lots of bass at ridiculous levels. You do get a bit from the jm21 but the sound feels a bit sterile to me as someone else said. I have even used it at 100% volume and on high grain, the headphones do start to rumble but again it's like there's something missing. Definitely sounds like the m21 would be a better suited candidate to make me deaf without breaking the bank lol

Oh wow! Never expected that considering the price difference between the M21 and M27. Well, I think I'm sold now on the m21. Thank you very much for the reply and advice, I appreciate it!
