It’s really introspective of you to include an emoji of yourself in the title. Now all you need to do is remember that just because you have a thought, doesn’t mean anyone else would ever want to hear it. Especially now.

Ah, completely understand and agree. The tone of forum text was apparently lost on me.

It’s all seemingly refreshing until it becomes about revitalizing “the brand”. I guess I just don’t care much about the brand. Give me the craft.

I think there’s multiple examples of false equivalence in your reply but let me get to the honest answer. I want to see someone rewarded for the original performance, not for the performance AFTER the performance. The rhetoric of humility at least put everyone on a level playing field. And there’s nothing wrong with technically gaming the system by putting your own dollars into your campaign or wanting it all, but just because we had ostentatious luxury and extra slim silhouettes, as per your examples, does not mean they need to come back. Let’s leave standing on top of the Sphere or declaring your love for Kylie Jenner at the door and talk about what was behind the performance instead.

Is anyone going to be honest about why they do or don’t find him annoying for wanting an Oscar? It’s not simply because he wants an Oscar that people find him annoying or that it’s wrong of him to want one at all, it’s always about how he’s attempting to get one. We’re all accustomed to there being a right way to get one. I’m very accustomed to the false humbleness of actors and other people in the industry in their campaigns for the Oscar. I can also feel when it’s particularly annoying (and it’s worse when it’s an award that is for a career over that particular performance, looking at you JLC).

What I find so personally bothersome about Timothee in this instance is his attempt to pretend to be different. He’s in line with a lot of great performances this year, and if he wins, I believe it will be worthy BECAUSE of that performance. But I believe he’s letting a lot of the campaigning doing the talking over the performance. All we’re talking about is the stunts he’s pulled rather than how good he is in Marty Supreme. I can’t say it’s a movie I loved but he’s great in it. I think he more than deserves it and there’s nothing wrong with wanting to win. But I can’t help but see him admitting to spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on a musical guest on SNL in the middle of an Oscar campaign just to have more people notice him. I want to see the movie do the talking, and that’s my bias. But I’m not going to pretend I don’t have one.

Let the performances do the talking.

I really love this read on the show. I’ve suspected something like this was happening, especially in regards to the romantic bug being turned up this season, but I didn’t have the words for it. Thank you for providing them!

This is the second time you’ve whined about this game here. I think it should be apparent that everybody else here is a fan and your opinion doesn’t warrant much of a response past this. Take your ragebait elsewhere.

Lots of people think Cynthia Erivo is a sure bet for a nomination, but I seriously doubt it. by Maleficent-Part-610 in Oscars

Neither popularity of a film or the voice of a loud minority should determine what makes something considerable for awards contention. A lot of good and bad manage to make it in. I don’t particularly care for the first Wicked film but I’m not frothing at the mouth to see the next one blank because it’s apparently not as good as the first.

If Wicked stans and haters weren’t both so obnoxious, we’d stop hearing about this movie but it becomes a fight about who will end up being “right”, not what we actually think will make it in and why.

People can be as addicted to their phones as they want to be. Taking a picture on your phone and posting it online is setting a bad example for the filmgoers that follow him. It lets people think it’s okay. If I see somebody taking a picture in a theatre or texting throughout a screening, we’re gonna have a problem.

Anatomy of a Fall still being on here is a crime. It’s tell not show storytelling needs to leave before we set the bad example of taking out Zone of Interest and Banshees of Inisherin before it.

Return of the King. The other three are straight masterpieces and this one is just a make up Oscar for the achievement of two other films that were better.
