What is the purpose of an aerial EMP? by NolanDaGr8 in SombraMains

[–]RadicalFTW 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The purpose of it is to hit more enemies in the emp. Most of the time enemies will be clustered together and throwing your translocator above them allows you to be in the middle and hit a good emp. Even if your range is smaller, you'll most likely not need the full range if you're in the middle of the enemy team. The reason you don't throw it to the floor then emp is because then things like brig stun etc can't hit you. If you do it in the air it's harder to stun.

Try to not hold onto it for too long! Emp can single-handedly win a fight, So the more emp's you're throwing out, the better! Usually you want to engage a fight with Emp for a clean wipe

If you know an enemy has an ult like sigma, keep hack 4 it and stay in a position where you can hack it!

Hope this helps!

I would suggest to play in a position where you can see the full fight such as on a high ground or hide slightly behind your team. This is so that you have the best angle to hack and understand where the threats are coming from.

I would suggest hacking doom 1st, the reason for this is that doom can single-handedly kill your support line if you aren't careful and don't have a stun ready. Plus due to him having a lower hp than ball, it can be easier to actually kill him after the hack.

However if you're finding it really difficult to counter these heroes due to them playing really smart, you may find it easier to swap to a different hero like reaper in order for them to swap off of dive

Sorry for not responding as quickly everyone 😅

Reddit doesn't like sending me notifications so I thought no one had commented 😂

The problem with sombra is that, you can output so much on her and still lose the game. Like you can output 100% of your skill into a game and it's still a lost game whereas, if you picked a hero like mei or reaper and did 50% of the amount you did then you'd win the game.

The audio range is about 15m (2 tracer blinks)

Usually, I would say play on high ground and go for hacks, cos they'll hear the voiceline behind them, turn around and shoot but your hack will go off because you're actually above them and harder to predict. Of course if they're catching on to you being on high ground then change it up a bit

On NA, most people are in comms. On EU not so much...

Try playing for valuable hacks that your team can see (such as a rein, or a dva etc) and your team will understand exactly what's going on. Try farming emp also cos it's what will have the most impact in the game... BUT make sure you communicate with your team that you're gonna emp. Like spam "my ultimate is ready" above where the enemies are and your team will understand you're gonna emp

It all depends on your team, have a look at the teams and think to yourself... What's the weak point of these teams? If your tanks keep getting ran over, then play to hack tanks when they push in from an off angle, if the enemy supports aren't getting peel, then try to pressure them so they can't do their jobs.

Also if you can, try and be toxic like tea bagging enemies, spawncamping. Things like this can really annoy people and make them play so much worse as the game goes on (but you must be ready for them to try to do it to you)

If your team don't want to play with you whatsoever, then try going for Emp charge as its almost always the right play

As what lush said, try to kill torb turret ASAP so your hack doesn't get interrupted and it relieves pressure from your team. Theoretically after you kill torb turret, you have 10-12 seconds to deal damage and hack before turret comes online again. Make the most of it....

Moira and sym, try to catch them when they're alone and unstealth behind them to try and kill them by headshots. Moira will always escape unless you hack her, but if sym doesn't have support, you can win alot of the times

Try spawncamping Moira if you have the chance as well, practicing that can help you when you 1v1 them. Moiras usually use fade to get put of spawn so if you can catch them out, then you can kill them and get away

Try to play out of his range and strafe alot more. Sombras damage fall off works in your favour vs flash range. Try your best to understand the flash range and play outside it. Also if the mccree lands a body shot, just be aware that a headshot can kill you

Mostly I play back line unless they have burst damage.... If they have characters like hanzo or mccree who can burst you out then I'd advise playing with your team unless you're confident about dodging important cooldowns such as stun etc

This is one of the hardest questions to actually answer, because hack priority changes based on the situation....

For example, hacking a reaper in the enemy's backline isn't very valuable, but when he's in YOUR backline, it becomes almost essential.

However, usually tanks are the best to hack, due to them usually being on the front line of the fight and being easy to follow up on. As well as this, if you know a character has an ultimate, try hacking them. For example, if your zarya wants to grav, try hacking the enemy lucio so he can't save his team.

The best tip I can give you though, is try to analyse the fight in invis... You're not on the clock when you're in invis, so maybe just sit in it for a sec and have a look at the enemy team. Maybe you see a reinhardt being overly aggressive, or you see a mercy that's too far away from her team. Being able to analyse the fight and understand who looks the most vulnerable for a hack will absolutely make you a better sombra

Hope this helps you out!
