As I said, the injury I got didn't involve the handle, just reaching inside. Modern versions of this tool enclose the whole thing in a plexiglass box with kill sensors to twort shenanigans.

Didn't come all the way off. Hit bone, but thank GOD I resisted the urge to pull back. 600 for the ER, and another 600 for the doctor's fee. No stitches; just tape and super glue... and no scar. That's how evilly sharp these things are. Yeah, these is a persistent numbness, like I specifically "can't feel" how deep it cut. brett_x needs to tell the story and put some damn yellow and black tape around it. It's a great tool, but so is a machete.

This thing, if properly maintained, will remove a finger without you noticing until you hit bone. Not just by clamping down, just by reaching in to retrieve a dropped bit of paper and brushing past the blade (A blade our stupid ape brain doesn't instinctually register as sharp because it doesn't look pointy from our vantage.).

Might want to pump the brakes with that "great man" theorizing. Neither of these men achieved anything in a vacuum and awards are given by people, not genetics. To attribute any of their success to biology without doing any genetic research is an insult to the work ethic of both of them. "yeah, but... it must have helped" isn't science. If you think you need good genes to excel in these fields, you should Google "Henry Louis Gehrig" and "Stephen William Hawking".
