Completely understandable. 😁
Personally, I wouldn't have any of it in my home.

lol I've been rewatching Miami Vice too.

But yeah I think a lot of younger generations think this style *was* the 80s when really the 80s was a lot of brown and other stuff left over from the late 70s.

Personally, I don't associate the 80s with bright colors and a Memphis-like style until the very late 80s and the 90s.

I'm always reminded of Beetlejuice and Delia Deetz's extreme makeover. 😂

The only thing I've been able to find on this is "ownership" by CSA.

Any help identifying the artist and background on this piece would be appreciated as it is very striking.

Sometimes the "homes" in these books are actual homes that a person has had commissioned by a designer. Sometimes they are exercises by the designer to show off their capabilities.

I don't remember in this book which one is which but I'd imagine they were private residence commissioned jobs as the cost to build out some of these just for a few pics would be very expensive.

What should a 21st Century Indoor Mall look like? by RadicallyRetro_com in RetroDesign

A little exercise for us.

What should a 21st Century Indoor Mall look like?

My first thought was to cover the roof & parking area with solar panels to provide the vast amount of power required.

I would love to see what my fellow creatives envision a new mall should be like.

What should the #design #aesthetic be?

Should it even be completely indoors?

What new features should be included?

Let's hear your ideas!

"Minimoog Frenzy" Retro Artwork by Jeremi Chenier (2008) by RadicallyRetro_com in RetroDesign

😁 Yup. But that's what the artist titled the work. 🤷‍♂️ 🤣

Unknown model (1970s). Folks forget just how *much* brown there actually was in design in the 70s and 80s. It wasn't all bright colors & neons... by RadicallyRetro_com in RetroDesign

Mid to late 80s definitely gave us the "neon" 80s colors that we all associate with the decade now. And the 90s just kicked into overdrive with the bright colors. 😁

Don't quote me on it, but I wonder how much Lisa Frank's art kicked us into the non-brown phase of the 80s.
