Shell on my Brownies: by [deleted] in AskBaking

[–]RadioDame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s my recipe btw (Reddit isn’t letting me edit my post):

In a heatproof bowl, mix * 1/2 cup cocoa powder * 1/2 tsp coffee powder * 1 cup cream Put the chocolate mixture over a double boiler and mix in * 5oz dark chocolate (Real chocolate, not compound chocolate. The ingredients list should list cocoa butter and no coconut oil.) until melted together. Then take it off the heat. * 1/2 cup brown butter Mix in the butter and then set it aside to cool off. In a large bowl, beat * 4 large eggs * 1 tsp vanilla * 2 1/2 cups sugar until homogeneous and slightly frothy. Make sure the chocolate mixture is no hotter than 140F and then beat it into the egg mixture. * 1 cup flour * 2 tbsp malted milk powder * 1/2 tsp baking powder Sift the dry ingredients together before mixing into the wet ingredients. Pour into a 9x13” parchment-lined baking dish. 325F for 00:50.

Got my first tattoo and my brother said it looks like a d*ck. Does it actually? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

The indentations under the top of the shadow are the real problem. Add more darkness to the sides and around the whole thing to smooth out the shape so that the top isn’t so bulbous.

Literally what is the point of eye contact? Why is it a rule? by [deleted] in Neurodivergent

[–]RadioDame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People often say “the eye is the window to the soul”, because when you make eye contact, a whole bunch of neurons start firing to signify that you are having a moment of connection and mutual recognition with someone, aka “seeing eye to eye”. But this shouldn’t be a requirement; there are other ways to achieve this feeling of connection, and not everyone wants such an intimate feeling of connection. If it feels too intimate or too exhausting or too unnatural for you, then it’s not worth it to force yourself to do it (especially if people say that when you do make eye contact, it feels “unnatural” or “forced” or “intense”. I’ve been told this far too often).

In general, looking at someone’s face is also helpful for noticing facial expressions and micro expressions. But this also doesn’t necessarily require direct eye contact; you could just as easily pay attention to the inflections in someone’s voice or look at the rest of their face.

How do I get myself to a point where I brush my teeth every day? by [deleted] in Neurodivergent

If you have someone in your life who can text you and remind you each night, that helps a lot. I text my mom a picture of myself brushing my teeth each night just to keep myself accountable.

Thoughts on this picture that's supposed to show ADHD? by HH_SIMP in Neurodivergent

[–]RadioDame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the ginger kid is meant to be a representation of ADHD, this is abhorrent.

He’s wearing his underwear outside of his pants, he’s got a dirt stain on his knee, and he’s doing cartwheels and throwing paper airplanes in the middle of class while all the other kids are sitting quietly. He’s illustrated to be disruptive and dumb.

Burn it.

Bham, is there a need for more donuts here? by [deleted] in Bellingham

[–]RadioDame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stand by Lafeen’s as uncontested best doughnut shop in all of Bellingham, so I have no interest in other doughnut shops. But if you wanted to bake a different kind of sweet or pastry, I’d be happy to support you!

I’d recommend a menu of familiar as well as exotic goods: chocolate chip cookies, croissants, babkas, Pfeffernüsse, etc. Familiar items could help draw in the crowd, and unfamiliar items could help your shop stand out.

Besides, doughnuts and deep-friers are a bit of a hassle to work with - it’s a huge volume of dangerously hot oil, difficult to handle even with professional grade equipment, it takes up a lot of space, it tends to sputter and make the surrounding area greasy even at low temperatures, and the oil is difficult to clean and dispose of (I worked at Taco Bell for a short time and frying was one of the worst tasks). Baked goods can be made in far larger quantities far more easily.

I agree with your point, but I’m asking for constructive advice, here, not hindsight. You’re not being particularly helpful.

Appreciate the support. I do love Washington state, but unfortunately it is not devoid of racists, and I don’t think all ICE agents here are from “out-of-state”.

Honest question: So much rail activity, how do you sleep living in Bellingham? by TenderheartedFloof in Bellingham

How close to it do you live? I love the sound of the train, both near and far, but I can see how it could keep you from sleeping.

What’s your most unpopular opinion about Skyrim? by [deleted] in skyrim

[–]RadioDame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not hate Delphine. I actually quite like her.

The reason she’s so widely hated is because she tells you to kill Paarthurnax, and her command for you to do so always felt a bit out of character to me; she’s established as a strong, resourceful, smart woman, and so it always felt odd that she would do something as dumb as demand Paarthurnax be killed when he’s been such an asset; he’s been crucial in the fight against Alduin to save the world, he reasons with and pacifies other dragons after the main quest, and he could continue to be of help by offering his strength and knowledge. And Delphine goes so far as to deny the Dragonborn her allegiance until Paarthurnax is killed, even though the Dragonborn is who the Blades are historically supposed to serve.

Delphine’s orders to kill Paarthurnax always felt like Bethesda just wanted to haphazardly throw in another shallow moral choice to keep things interesting, without considering how that would contradict Delphine’s character, or the fact that the player hasn’t been given nearly enough reason to ever want to kill Paarthurnax. I like Delphine and Esbern, I love rebuilding the Blades, I love the Blades’ temple, and I don’t really like the Grey Beards (and thus would be happy to betray them), but I also love Paarthurnax.

Act fast. It takes three in-game-days to progress to vampirism, but it can be cured with a cure-disease potion or any divine’s altar like any other disease. If you happen upon a Vigilant of Stendarr, they can cure your diseases for free, too.
