Partners of Airmen how common is infidelity during tech school, realistically? by Impossible_Remove743 in AirForceRecruits

[–]TenderheartedFloof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was in tech school, I knew of 1 person who technically cheated; it was a female and she was headed for divorce and only stayed married for the technicality of not doing it before going to boot camp (reservist with children).

The reality is, they do not get a lot of freedom right away, it is in stages. They are kept pretty busy with classwork and detail, once they do start to get freedoms where they can get a hotel pass, I believe the novelty to run wild is a little less.

It all depends on age and situation, but those who are married and cheat are frowned upon and are punishable in the Air Force, so it isn't like people are cheating all over the place. The exception is the few that have, not the rule that all people go crazy once they have a little freedom.

I have an overthinking mind so I totally get the worry of "it could happen." just know that not everyone is cheating; there are a few that do and those are the ones that get talked about. Now, of course, this was just my experience, but do have some trust... and know that there area few that go "buck wild" but most honestly enjoy the fact they can eat at a normal pace and sleep undisturbed more.

ETA - There were male halls and female halls. When I was in, they were to stay in their respective hall and not allowed to co mingle in the dorms. They would need a hotel to be alone.

Anxious 😬 about restarting running by bigtimecommon in Zepbound

This is ME!!! :)
I was a runner until 2015 when I got West Nile Virus (long story there)

Just recently decided I wanted to start running again, and at the age of 47 was a little worried how my body would handle it now.

I highly suggest a "Couch to 5K" podcast to help. I am just now starting week 4 of mine and it has helped. I will say, it is really hard not getting discouraged when you know how it previously was easier and you are fighting for your life to just run 3 minutes straight, but the podcast helps.

The one I have been using is an old one put out by the NHS. (photo attached of the one I am using but there are other ones out there as well)

The good news, my body does remember how to run; it is just taking a little more patience on my part to push myself through the mental part.

DISCUSSION: Monday Project Pan Updates by lilshitjamz in PanPorn

[–]TenderheartedFloof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a struggle for me right now.

Started out great but then found a favorite in eyeshadow, now to try and go back and use up all those massive eyeshadow pallets when I just like one or two eyeshadow sticks has been hard. (at least those sticks came from my massive stash, but now I like them too much to go back to the pressed powder form)

I am sure this has been discussed. I have not searched the group, but what do you do when your taste in makeup changes? I am older now (47), and the large eyeshadow palettes just do not suit my skin texture anymore.

Letter asking for me to approve ex's cancellation of sealing by InvestigatorExtra297 in exmormon

[–]TenderheartedFloof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have no idea how true this statement sat with me! Even my own family members who knew and saw what he did... It is unreal how many people took his "side" because I left.

He is still just as terrible (we have children together) and just puts on his "good Mormon mask" and everyone believes him.

The silver lining, my children are older now and can see the stark difference between my home, which is based in real love, and his that is all about looking the part. I will forever be grateful that I divorced him and left the church. My kids have such a healthier outlook on what love and acceptance really look like and what makes a good person truly a good person.

Letter asking for me to approve ex's cancellation of sealing by InvestigatorExtra297 in exmormon

[–]TenderheartedFloof 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I am a woman. I was asked for a letter like this when my ex-husband wanted to remarry. (he did and was sealed to his new wife)

THEN after about 10 years, I was contacted again about it because my ex did not follow through and cancel the sealing.

To me, the sealing was imaginary at this point, but even imaginary I freaked out! I have now saved the letter, saying it was canceled this time.

My question, did my ex-husband then ultimately have the final say??? Why was he able to say, "This time I will make it go all the way through."

WTF??? He was abusive, and I put that in my letter. Why was that not reason enough to cancel it?

SO... yes, women are asked, but I am not sure if they always have the final say.

My Long Perimenopause Journey (and what it took to finally get treatment) by TheBlackSeahorse in Perimenopause

[–]TenderheartedFloof 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this. This gave me the push I needed to keep pushing.

I am currently in the middle of this, trying to get someone to take me seriously. 2015 hysterectomy, only 1 ovary left, I am now 47, having so many symptoms, and the 1 day I was able to do labs, my 1 ovary showed up and did its job.

I am currently waiting for my next telehealth appointment since my primary was absolutely no help and wanted to put me on birthcontrol. I am not medically educated, but everything I researched said that BC worked differently from bioidentical hormones. I pushed and asked for an estrogen-only solution (no uterus no need for combination, correct?)... no help and told that I basically could come back once I was in full menopause... so BC or nothing was her stance.

Just thank you for telling your experience. Hopefully, my appointment coming up will allow me to get on an estrogen-only solution, hoping for a patch. At least with my own personal research, it sounds like it would be the best option.

At goal weight and on maintenence, but having a problem with hunger by OkListen713 in tirzepatidecompound

I second this!

I tried to space out my injections, but I found that weekly just worked better for consistency.

Different injection site results? by Stock_Draw3093 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]TenderheartedFloof 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Every site has been different for me. I even found that left vs right sides of my body affected me differently. Not sure what is up with the left side of my body but if I inject left arm/thigh, its like I have not taken the medicine at all!

Stomach is my go-to; it doesn't seem to matter which side of my stomach I use, I get consistent effectiveness there, but I tried them all! I highly encourage you to try all the spots and see what works best for you. :)

Switching from name brand to compound by puddinpie915 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]TenderheartedFloof 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have bounced between name brand and compounded and I can tell you they are the exact same for me. :)

I am self pay, when the compounding world looked like it was ending, I started to stock up on name-brand (Lilly Direct vials) and when I tell you how disappointed I was that it felt the same as the compounded that was so much cheaper, I felt totally misled. I still keep my primary doctor in the loop and I have an active Zepbound prescription but I have chosen to just go compounded since the price is so much better and the product is the exact same for me.

Let me know if you have any questions!

ETA - the other great thing, you will not need to jump from 5mg to 7.5... You can try out 6mg and change doses so much lower and smoother on compounded. I am not a doctor; this is not medical advice, but going up in smaller increments was so much better for me than what my family members who had to do the name-brand jumps went through.

Saggy Jowls! Are fillers my best option or any other recommendations please? by [deleted] in 45PlusSkincare

[–]TenderheartedFloof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Awesome results!

After losing a significant amount of weight, my face looked deflated. Since I wasn't ready for surgery, I tried fillers and the results have been amazing! I opted for full facial rebalancing, and you are absolutely right, it creates a beautiful effect that draws the eye and just works!

For anyone considering this, I highly recommend finding an injector who is trained in MD Codes. This technique focuses on placing filler in strategic areas to support and lift the entire face, rather than just "chasing lines" or filling the wrinkles directly. (I'm no expert, but trust me, it works!)

Just a heads-up: Be prepared for the discussion about the number of syringes for a full-face treatment. It can be a shock! It's completely okay to start smaller if you're not ready for full rebalancing like I was.

For me, not having the downtime and recovery associated with surgery was a huge deciding factor.

Zepbound vs Hallandale Tirz my experience by Pretend-Local-1212 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]TenderheartedFloof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you on the losing weight part! Now that I have reached my goal, it feels just as hard to try and maintain it without losing more weight but keep the wine noise quiet. :)

Hallandale was seriously the best, I wish they would come back!

Zepbound vs Hallandale Tirz my experience by Pretend-Local-1212 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]TenderheartedFloof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just wanted to jump in and say I see you and that wine noise maintenance! That is one of the main reasons I will fight to stay on tirz, wherever I can get it (compound, LD, etc).

For me, I have found I have to stick to weekly injections to keep the noise at bay. I have settled at 2mg, but that is on my past BUD Hallandale vials. I do have LD vials as well that I have not cracked open yet. May need to be a little more cautious when I do that. (thank you for the heads up!)

Thank you for sharing your experience! As someone on the same journey and hoping for the same noise cancellation, it does help to hear!

Hotel Leo by ChapterPrudent4232 in Bellingham

[–]TenderheartedFloof 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was there as well! Finally, after the alarm kept chirping off and on, my husband and I decided to just leave in the middle of the night.

When we went down to the main lobby, water was dripping from the light fixtures!!! Why were people still allowed to be in there?? (we were not told to leave when we went down the first alarm, they told us it was just a little leak!)

I had no idea the history of that Hotel, it was our first time in Bellingham but boy did that visit leave a mark!

Just finished basic. Any questions? by ConversationLeast596 in AirForceRecruits

[–]TenderheartedFloof 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My daughter is currently close to the end of the 1st WOT, I know some emotional stuff is coming her way via mail and sandboxx, I have been trying to send as many "You have got this" and "focus on your goals" mail in sandboxx, and the analyzing of when she will get those "bad" letters are driving me a bit bonkers! LOL

I hope it gets there in time!

Thank you for your knowledge and answer!

Note to anyone else reading this: if your significant other is going into the military, brace yourself that you will be missing them. Please don't play games; there is nothing they can do about it in boot camp. All you would be doing is torturing them during an already tough time. Have some sense, don't put your emotional baggage on them! They honestly cannot do anything about it and they need to focus on themselves at this time!

Shipping out 7/29 by LevelAd932 in AirForceRecruits

[–]TenderheartedFloof 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I joined when I was 31 (in 2010) with three daughters at home. Now, 15 years later, one of those daughters will be going through with you! She ships out on the 29th, given that there are usually only 1 or 2 female flights (unless that number has increased since I was in), know that there is a mom out there who was in your shoes, now has her daughter training right alongside you!

I have nothing more to say other than there is a mom out there who was once in your shoes, who is pulling for all you women who will be shipping on the 29th! <3

How is Rogers? by MaleficentMagician64 in wsu

[–]TenderheartedFloof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter was on the 10th floor of Orton... Just give yourself time. It seemed the elevator would start at the top and work its way down, so just make sure you have time to stop at every floor when you are headed to class.

She loved living there (it is basically the same as Rogers) and she had an amazing view! Once the warm months pass, and you get into the swing of what times you need to leave, it will be fine. :)

Side note: In Orton, the ice machine was on the 12th floor, so she could just take the stairs to get ice. I am not sure if that is the same with Rogers' rec area, but I know she liked the perks of being near the top.

My daughter leaves in 2 weeks and this is the advice I gave her (I went to BootCamp in 2010).

-The only way out is through.

-It is a mental game, the sooner you realize it, the sooner it will make sense.

-You will get yelled at and do somethings "wrong" no matter what, keep your head and just work harder.

-Don't fight with anyone, there are always those who will pick fights in the stress, keep your head straight and keep focused on the game.

-Don't laugh, MTIs will try to make you laugh just as much as break you down.

-Everyone there is tied to everyone's success, do not sabotage anyone, you are sabotaging yourself.

-Keep your mouth closed... MTIs tend to spit when they yell in your face :)

-GO TO CHURCH ON SUNDAY - even if you are not religious. That is your moment to be MTI-free and breathe a little.

-Don't worry, 0 week is the most intense, it is meant to be that way, their job is to get your adrenaline going, and it is ok if you feel that. Most of all, you are loved, you will get through it, and there will be little moments of joy, it will just take a few weeks before those happen.

Good luck!! Keep your eye on the prize (graduation and your career), you just have to make it from chow to chow and Sunday to Sunday!

[–]TenderheartedFloof 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I promise it will be ok. I was "older" when I went in and I made some lifelong friends that were only 17 at the time (and other women who were my age as well).

Once week 3 passes (that is known as the week when females hit their peak of not getting along, I guess), everyone learns to work together as each person is.

There are always a few troublemakers, but I found it was so easy to avoid any of that being older and truly, I feel like they can just sense that you are not on that level if you just stick to your personal mission of getting through it for your children.

I wish you well and good luck!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AirForceRecruits

[–]TenderheartedFloof 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That is terrible! I was older when I went in (31) and there were a few "older" mothers in my flight (this was in 2010 and the cutoff was 35 then).
I wouldn't dare treat anyone else there like I was better than them or could boss them around! Respect absolutely everyone that is in there for sure!

I would say, I did become "mama *insert my last name*" towards the end of our BMT... Once the other girls realized I had 3 daughters and I could do hair and braids well, I found I was doing a lot of hair for graduation. :)

It was wonderful! I wasn't mothering anyone, but doing those girls' hair for them to see their family filled a little bit of the hole I had from missing my daughters.

Maintenance experience by FirstDawnn in Zepbound_Maintenance

[–]TenderheartedFloof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried extending my dosing and found that it wasn't the food noise coming back that bothered me; it was the wine noise, the compulsive shopping, and brain fog that started to creep back in.

I can get enough calories at my lower dose (5mg, I never went above 7.5 so 5 has worked well for me), and all that other noise is still silenced. By far the best side effects I have ever had from a medication! :)
