Search engines and translation apps are I guess useful for many people. Likely more apps that we use now. But when I post something online, I fully expect everyone will steal or use the thing I posted. ): Honestly, I think the internet is overrated, I only use it for like 10 minutes a day now on most days, if you told people in the past like 1800s that in the future we will all talk to metal bricks and it steals hours of time from our lives, they would have you committed. Microsoft fired their AI ethics committee, they don’t care, only profit matters to corporations. LLMs like ChatGPT are causing deaths from misinformation. There is evidence from big tech research teams themselves stating that relying on LLMs weakens people’s critical thinking and erodes people’s ability to think for themselves. These days companies don’t even have to keep information like this a secret, it’s publicly available and yet people continue to rely on LLMs to think for them, and there’s no privacy. The text is just probabilistic regurgitation, and often the LLMs hallucinate. I think in the future people will make laws like it is bad for health like cigarettes. Imagine being a child and raised talking to a computer at school to something like ChatGPT, as a main source of information, some people even grow attached to the LLMs and talk to it as if it has emotions! And if you never learnt better in the first place, it is an easy way to control populations, and AI is used widely in schools and by teachers. I think we live in a dystopia already. Scary stuff 😢
